Do we know why they are skipping a week? I know “Olympics” is the obvious answer, but they will still be going on on the 22nd, with the ladies skate final that night.

Lifetime also benched Married At First Sight this week, so I assume the Olympics is the reason in both cases.

I’m surprised JTF wasn’t wearing a bow tie. That’s his signature! And I like the way Georgina accused Isaac or being “cross” with Joshua. Only the English can do that well!

I totally agree with you about Georgina.  That was like something the editors don't usually let us see.  The judges FREELY admitting their fucked up biases.

And I totally agree about panel.  I couldn't believe Alyssa finally had someone to crack up with and show some humour with.  RuPaul was DYING at her commentary at the end about Kimberly vs Josh.

Kimberly is a cool person, this show gave her NO SCREENTIME and I found that really annoying.  Like you have to be really weird or fucked up to get any screentime on this show.

I didn't want Joshua to be sent home for that.  I adore Anthony, but I really couldn't get over the breastplate thing.  It bothered me so much.  Merline's was okay but I didn't like how the transparent fabric just looked like muslin or whatever fabric dressmakers use to pin clothing (my mother uses it in her work).  It just looked so cheap and like an art project because of it.

I thought Fabio's was incredible!

I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but see ejaculate when I saw Joshua's. Like I thought very clearly, "That looks like semen." I'M SORRY, I know that's gross. I thought he should have gone over Kimberly - I just think he has bad taste.

I'm surprised he's lasted this long; Josh is no All-Star! ;-)

I’m guessing everyone is watching the Olympics? They should have aired a new episode last week and skipped this week since it’s the ladies skating final. Same demographic, I think.

I thought the judges would definitely rip Anthony for being too literal with his galaxy top (which I thought looked like a paper plate taped to her top). His black pants were definitely avant garde (although I did find myself wondering how the poor model sat down!). “Take a chance with pants!”

Merline’s white dress was weird but wearable. I liked what she did with the strips of fabric to create the shape and structure but I also felt like it was top safe for an avant garde challenge.

Ken’s black hole coat was definitely avant garde but I also thought that his model looked like a huge clove of garlic.

While I appreciate all the work that went into Fabio’s fringey quilted Neptune look, from a distance, it looked like a denim couch that had been clawed to death by a cat. That braided macrame crap on the shoulders looked like those horrible hanging plant holders from the 70s.

I was surprisingly neutral on Helen’s supernova design. It wasn’t avant garde enough but it wasn’t horrible. What is it with leotards that the designers think equals avant garde?

Josh’s glue dress looked boring from far away and ugly up close. I thought his glue idea was interesting in theory but there was just too much going on with the lace and the glue section and the flouncy pants.

Loved Alyssa’s “bitch, please” face when he told Georgina that was all the explanation that he was going to give them  But then he had to dig the hole even deeper by being a dick when she asked him specific questions. He is such a liar too. “I want to hear the good and the bad.” No, you don’t. All you want to hear is the ass kissing. And FYI - there are things besides bondage wear and LBDs. The fact that you think it has to be one or the other shows how narrow and limited your viewpoint is

Related note: talking over people is not a good look. That goes double when you’re a contestant on a reality show and it’s a judge you’re talking over. Don’t be a rude asshole. Quit talking over people!

The most avant garde thing about Stanley’s eclipse look was the mask. The rest looked like a poofy jumpsuit. Stanley’s talking head showed how much smarter and more mature he is than bitchy orange Josh.

Kimberly’s neutron look was underwhelming. Her model was wearing a leotard with a gold bedazzled cape. And when she turned around, I was like DAMN. That leotard had her ass totally hanging out!

Edmond’s quasar looked like a student’s idea of what avant garde should look like:  a floor length gown with some weird shapes attached.

What were the odds that on the same night, I'd be watching RuPaul docking points from Shangela for trying to pass off platters as a costume and then an hour later on a different channel, he'd be letting Anthony slide for the exact same thing? (Though to be fair, the rest of Shangela's outfit was essentially a giant wad of tinsel; Anthony's pants were at least sort of interesting.)

Ru and JTF were a hoot! The judging was so light hearted and fun this week.

I loved Anthony’s ‘take a chance’ pants, but the top looked too crafty.

i loved Fabio’s concept and fabric, but agree with Ru that the proportions were off.

Josh’s whole look was ugly. Porno space queen on crack y’all.  He really has skated through the competition so far. I don’t get his design aesthetic.  Also, his eyebrows and snippy attitude really bother me.

I like Stanley’s look because it look lux from head to toe. Many of the other designs looked cheap or crafty.

Josh is just unlikeable IMO.  He does the same theme every week... “Welcome to the Frederick’s of Hollywood XXX Bargain Basement Bondage Clearance Sale!”  Then he has the audacity to critique others in his TH about repeating the same shtick?  Josh, please pack your spray tan gun and your bag of tackiness and go (wrong show, I know).

I love Anthony but I so do not understand how that giant paper plate passed with minimal scrutiny.  Spin-art indeed.  It reminded me of something a 2nd grader would make for her Science Project.

Sorry to see Kimberly go. As Ms. Blue Jay noted, they didn’t give her enough screen time.  She is definitely more talented than Josh.

I am watching now so I have not read this thread. I don’t want to be spoiled. I am afraid I will forget this.

Joshua- The wheel has been done, I am adding a spoke.  The mentor whose name I have forgotten was taken back as well she should have been.  She is terrible at this job.

It's Ann somebody.  Her streak is intact - every week she gives  advice which is ignored by the designer who goes on to win.

I couldn't believe that Edmond was safe.  It was much worse than either Kimberly's or Josh's.

At least this time we didn't have to see Nina Garcia dissolve into giggles over the "foaming vagina!"

The judging this week was fabulous. Goes to show how important it is to have witty guests.  Georgina was correct about Isaacs transparent plea.  Loved it!

Isaac surely has earned enough with his Walmart line to fix his teeth.  I did like the talk he gave Josh back stage.

This may have been mentioned in an episode I didn’t read.   Alyssa pronounces Merlene as Mare-leen with a French accent.   No one else does, including Merlene!

MsBlueJay, I totally agree with you - was surprised Anthony was on the top (it looked so crafty to me) and Fabio's was one of my favorites! I thought the top 3 would be between Stanley (who I also would have picked as the winner), Fabio, Ken and Merline.

I far prefer Kimberly to Joshua (both personality and design-wise), but I'll admit I find the latter's bitchiness entertaining. And, as much as I can't stand his aesthetic, at least it adds a... unique... viewpoint.

As others have noted, Ru and JTF were both great judges - I kind of wish they had put them on different episodes since so many of the guest judges are sub-par.

Also, can I just say how excited I am by the sheer number of black and brown contestants this season? It's such a rare sight on these types of reality TV shows, including Project Runway (although last season was awesomely diverse).

So, who do folks think is likely to win at this point? My money's on Fabio or Stanley. Fabio's one of my favorite contestants of all time (I thought he was robbed his season), so I would be thrilled if he emerged victorious.

I agree. It reminded me of those "astro" quick paintings that you see spray-paint artists do on the sidewalk in some cities (my son is the proud owner of one from Puerto Vallarta).

I sort of lost interest in these people a few weeks ago and the episodes have been stacking up in my DVR.  But I love the avant garde challenge . . .

That's it?  "Extended peplum"?

The Black Hole inspiration could have been up over the head and HUGE, with little glimpses of light color disappearing and reappearing as she walked down the runway.

The "all-star" designers are lame.

Josh's esthetic is "slutty Judy Jetson".  They keep asking him back because he's an unabashed dick. I cannot stand him. Not only does he raise unpleasantness to an art form, and not only are his one-note designs tacky and trashy, he looks so grubby and greasy, like he need to be tossed into the shower and scrubbed down with a wire brush.

Stanley is really quietly impressive, isn't he? His stuff always looks classy and luxe. I'm loving him this season.

I was remarking on the diversity this season to myself too! I love it.

I'd love to see Fabio win. I've loved him since his first season, and I thought he should have won then, too.

I don't think it matters! She's allowing someone else to do this to her without checking! That was gross! Why did the entire cast almost gasp as if they were impressed when she appeared in this? I question their tastes as well! I know she's a baby factory, but she needs to cover up some of that mess! ;-)

I feel badly that I don't get it.

Stanley's said to me umpire nun whose headpiece (wimple?) was falling off and got stuck in her neckline, and I'm pretty sure that wasn't what he was going for.

Best moment by far was Stanley's reaction to Josh talking back on the runway. If anyone knows how to make GIFs, I will forever be grateful if you could capture that moment!

I liked Fabio's - it was beautiful, but it was too wearable for what I like to see for AG.

Anthony's bottom was PERFECT - I just wish his top was different. The paint splatters were too literal and juvenile.

Also enjoyed Stanley and surprisingly, Ken.

I thought Helen should have gone. Hers was awful in every way.

Overall, very disappointing considering their inspiration. I mean, you could do so many amazing things with a cosmos reference!

Best. Comment. Ever.  I laughed so hard at that and had to rewind to make sure I heard right. It was gold!

The avant garde challenges could be soooo much better if they gave them 2 days. There’s just not enough time to create something interesting in such a short period of time.  Anyway, I didn’t particularly like any of them.

If Alyssa's dress was stitched closed a bit in the front, it would make a darling dress for a six year old playing fairy princess.   But for an adult with her boobs on display, it's just. . . no.

I'm surprised that Anthony didn't get called out for being too literal. That breast plate looked like a planet to me.

Kimberly and Josh had equally bad designs (like Anthony said, battle of the streetwalkers lol) but I knew Josh would stay because Kimberly is BORING. Josh brings the snark that reality shows love - although he's actually been pretty good this season, until this episode.

And I'm glad he stayed, because I LOVE Josh. It won't happen, but I would love for him to make it into the finale. I love the the way he dresses and I love his bitchy snark. His taste level is questionable, for sure, and he didn't need to be so defensive during judging, but I just find him so much fun to watch.

I believe Alyssa said it was two days in the beginning of the episode, but we didn't see them leaving one day and coming back the next. I imagine it was done for the sake of time since All Stars is only an hour long show. And they probably wanted to use as much time as possible to show the judging.

I wasn't paying attn. to the number of kids, just that she's hosted the "All Star" show pregnant more than once! ;-)

I would also like to add that in elementary school, we used to make glue patterns on the back of our rulers with good old fashioned Elmer's glue (back when we were deemed too young to use the glue gun by our moms) so yeah, it's not exactly revolutionary, especially since the pattern that he made wasn't unique either. Man, now I kind of want to go buy some glue and make some of those old school fake nails!

One of my favorite moments in this episode was when Alyssa was introducing the challenge and when she paused to give them a chance to guess, Fabio said, "We have a week for this challenge!" Sadly, these days they're lucky whenever they have more than one day to sketch, shop, and create a garment.

I loved Fabio's idea, but I think it was a little subtle, and he lost me a bit with the braiding. I just love listening to his voice, too, and hope he goes on to win it. I'd love to see Anthony and Ken or Stanley in the final with him.
I liked Stanley's design - I didn't 'get it' in the work room, but on the runway it made sense. I love the AG challenges in general, and this week didn't disappoint. I'm sorry Kimberly left, and I'm looking forward to both Josh and Merline leaving (I hope). Even if she doesn't leave, I don't think her collection would win...
Anthony's top was too literal with the spin-art thing, but I think he's been meeting and reacting thoughtfully to the other challenges so far. It's nice to see.
Rupaul and JTF were fantastic judges, I'd love to have them more often. They brought out Alyssa's snarky side, and that was really enjoyable.

I agree with the judges that Kim's runway look wasn't great. Not based on sewing or design merit at all, but she has the prettiest face I have seen on my TV and I wasn't ready for her to leave. That said, I'm glad Josh wasn't sent home. I like him. If I was in that sewing room I hope he would come sit by me. His jizzy vest and fancy chaps were bonkers. Not Chris March level bonkers, but not boring. I wish they would send home Anne. She drains.

After reading the comments, I took another look at Fabio's to make sure I wasn't missing something- because I thought it was awful. It looked like an old lady's bathrobe that got mangled in the wash.

I initially really loved Anthony's- it just had such great runway impact- but I do see the issue with the weird planet breastplate. I think those pants were the best item on the runway though.

Joshua really lucked out that Kimberly sent her model out in a bathing suit and cape, essentially, because there was not a single good thing about his outfit.

About the treatments Fabio did for the shoulders.  Back when people did macrame (purses, plant holders, room dividers, I though all the knotting was really neat.

But I was talking to a friend who had been a teenager in Germany during WWII, and she said she hated to see macrame anything.  I asked why.  She said that it reminded her of her childhood when the only handbags and belts and anything leather like  anyone had was made by them by knotting macrame and she grew so tired and depressed seeing it every day, on everyone for years and years. She saw it and remembered poverty.
