Bear in mind that the second Mrs. DeWinter was very very young when she met Maxim, and had almost zero experience in the world of dealing with servants (except as one). That plus her naturally meek demeanor and the dominating presence of the apparently well-loved Rebecca doomed her not to be able to stand up to Mrs. Danvers or the other staff. She doesn't know how to assert her authority because she's never had any, and Maxim is no help. I get irritated with her, too, at times, but I can generally temper that, having been in similar situations. I'm not nearly as meek as she is, but I do tend to hold off a bit with the authority thing until I've gotten the lay of the land. Rebecca is one of my favorite books.

Really, though, you should have the crate put together and have toys, the collar and leash, and even puppy pads BEFORE you get the puppy home. And ask the breeder or shelter or whatever place you got the puppy BEFORE you bring the puppy home what it's been eating and buy the same food.

Agreed. But until that happens, I guess we'll have to be satisfied with LobsterFest at Red Lobster. LOL

    Jeopardy! Season 35 (2018-2019)

Yay, my regular station’s sister station showed Jeopardy at its regular time! Unfortunately, that didn’t mean I was able to get FJ. I thought it must have something to do with when spring arrives and the growing season starts, but blanked on what that might be. Good wagering by the new champ, although I might not have wagered anything if I had been in that position. I did get peal, fling, and knell, and also liver after initially answering gallbladder. It’s a kneejerk response — I hear bile, and immediately think gallbladder, forgetting that bile is merely stored there, not produced there.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get Jeopardy tonight. I'm back home, but there is no Jeopardy on my regular station. They have a sister station, but the program guide is not helpful! Fingers crossed for me that I'll get to watch the show tonight!

I wish I could give a like and a sad — I like this commercial, too, but it makes me sad, seeing all of those folks who have beamed up.

    Jeopardy! Season 35 (2018-2019)

I’m travelling again, and Jeopardy here is on ABC, so I got it at the usual time. I think it was pre-empted on my “home” channel. FJ was an instaget for me tonight. I love Poe. But I will not go see scary movies. I don’t mind Jonathan, but he needs to stop flailing his buzzer arm. At least he’s on the end now, and won’t hurt anyone. There were a few surprising TS tonight — I got Cyrus McCormick, DeForest Kelley, spacesuit, and Marie Antoinette. I was terribly sad that they missed DeForest Kelley. Bones had some of the best lines in Star Trek, including my favorite, “I’m a doctor, not a bricklayer!”

The sad part about my sad answer of Tudor is that I know Bonnie Prince Charlie was a Stuart, but I got distracted by the Henry part of the clue.

So you could say "Aaron Burr" like you had a mouthful of peanut butter sandwich, of course. I knew Lust for Life, but couldn't pull it out of the deep recesses of my brain in time.

Yay, Jonathan! After the FJ category was called, I pre-guessed either Tudor or Stuart, but then when the clue came up, I picked the wrong one. Boo, hiss. So glad Alex got to say "genre" more than once! LOL I only wrote down two TS -- return receipt and angostura bitters. I'd like to thank Justin Wilson for my knowledge of angostura bitters. Eh, I'd ridicule a man just as much for his buzzer torture, and I suspect I have done.
