S09.E06: To Grandmother’s House We Go

Okay, I'm glad it wasn't just me thinking she was gigantic. I was shocked when Kendra said her mother was 28 weeks along. How freakin' big would she be if she made it to 40 weeks? I know her mother is a small woman, but man. The absolute saddest thing to me about her mother continuing to have children is that, were she to go into premature labour, odds are it would be the child that would suffer severe consequences and not her. And I guess that goes with their "everything is in the hands of God" thing, but if I knew that any subsequent pregnancies meant I could go into preterm labour I would think long and hard before getting pregnant again. Which isn't to say I wouldn't choose to try to have another child or two, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go on to try to have 7 more children. And I definitely would want to make sure I was doing everything in my power to NOT go into premature labour. Which would probably mean staying fairly close to home and my doctor and the hospital with with my doctor was affiliated, so that if anything went wrong my medical history was easy accessible. Has she had the baby? I can't keep track of what is old footage or recent footage. Maybe she was pregnant with twins? (In which case, given her history, she definitely shouldn't have made the trek to Florida.)

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

Radar refers to them as a "disgraced couple". I know what Josh did, but as far as I know the only thing Anna did was stick with Josh. And while I think that was a ridiculously stupid thing to do, I'm not sure it qualifies her for being lumped with him as a "disgraced couple".

Why does she want me to boil the cooked chicken? What did chicken ever do to her?

S09.E06: To Grandmother’s House We Go

The clip of Jeremy's mother finding out that Jinger was pregnant brought tears to my eyes - as it did the first time it aired. His family clearly cares about each other, and has warmly welcomed Jinger, and is so thrilled about baby Felicity. It shouldn't be such a jolt to see, but the Duggars are so emotionally uninvolved with each other that the Vuolos really stand as a stark contrast.

    S10:08 Aspyn's Royal Wedding

Did no one show Aspyn, Mitch and the parents how to walk down an aisle? They all walked with big galumping strides rather than with smaller, more graceful steps. I know they were outside on rough ground rather than a smooth floor, but one can walk gracefully on grass. (I know, I know, Kody and gracefully should never be used in the same sentence. But at least Aspyn could have looked more graceful.)

    S10:08 Aspyn's Royal Wedding

Is it normal for the father-of-the-bride to get ready with the groom and his family/friends before the wedding? And be photographed with them before the wedding? Because (a) Kody was seriously inappropriate when he commented on the bed in the cottage and (b) was somewhat inappropriate when he talked about Mitch carrying the other over the threshold and (c) has a whole slew of sons - some of whom he likely hasn't seen in a while - he could have gotten ready with. I really don't get their "we have a religious ceremony and it's private" shtick. I had a religious ceremony. In an Anglican Church. And all of my family and friends were there. Also - part of the Anglican ceremony is wrapping the bride and groom's hands together (at least, it happens in the Book of Common Prayer service), so Aspyn and Mitch's hand-fasting, although nice, was not completely unusual. I wouldn't want a house as large as the one Robyn is renting in Flagstaff. Unless it came with a housekeeper. Cleaning all those bathrooms? No.thanks.

PLEASE let Dante kill Sonny. Please! Sonny coming in and being all "you need to come home, your wife and kids need you" to his adult son was just so...awful. Just awful. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about Sonny at all.

Can anything be done to move Derick's upper jaw over so that his teeth are more centered in his face? I know surgery can adjust the position of a lower jaw - my son will be getting it sometime in the next 4-5 years - but what happens with the upper jaw? Because Derick's teeth look really strange being so far over to the side.

    S10:07 Divided We Move

Explain to me again why they couldn't move back to Utah? When the NY Times is publishing articles about contemporary homes built for polygamists in Utah, and the polygamists don't feel the need to hide their names, I think we can assume Kody would be safe from prosecution. Does Utah not have good schools that Dayton could attend? Would Utah be even more expensive than Flagstaff?

I know I'm supposed to be rooting for Sam and Jason to get Kristina away from DOD, but she is SO much better since she joined them. She's not nearly as annoying as she used to be. So, if the cult is an improvement, then let her cult away. I'm still not too sure what the DVX wanted with Ryan. Or what Ryan wanted with the DVX, for that matter. Serial killers are kind of "rogue individuals", and I really don't think they'd be reliable as spies or hired killers, or whatever he was recruited to do.

What's a bread dough mixer? I have a dough hook for my Kitchen Aid mixer - is that what she's referring to?

Season 10 Spoilers, Speculation and Social Media

I understand the need to sell the houses in LV to fund the property/homes in Flagstaff, but since it's taking so long for them to sell, would it not be possible for them to rent them out? At least then they'd have some money coming in that could go against the LV mortgages/the property in Flagstaff/Christine's mortage/the Flagstaff rentals. Or are people not renting houses in LV right now? And I know Kody has hinted that he wants to build one house for all of them on the property in Flagstaff, but what would be the resale potential of that in Arizona? Is there a polygamist community in and around Flagstaff? Even if they were to build one plyg house and live in it for 50 years, it would still have to be sold at some point in time. When we were renovating our main bathroom we insisted on keeping the tub despite the contractor's strong urging to turf it for a large shower, because we knew that when we end up selling the house we'd lose potential buyers if the house didn't have a tub. It's easy to repaint custom colours when it comes to selling your home, but shouldn't you generally keep in mind what the market may want if you are building a custom home? And a plyg home is very much a custom home.

Actually, what he said was that he would be a good father for his "grandsons...and granddaughters". There was a brief pause after grandsons. Way to make it clear to everyone yet again whom you prioritize, Kody. I still don't understand buying the land before they have even sold the LV houses. Or even found places to rent in Flagstaff! Meri actually made sense when she suggested they rent and wait to find property that everyone loves. And quite frankly, if a realtor told me my little kids shouldn't play in the dirt because the prairie dogs carry plague, I would NOT be buying that piece of land. Little kids play in the dirt. It's what they do. Or do the prairie dogs disappear when you develop the land? I live in a major urban city. We don't have prairie dogs, but we do have squirrels, raccoons, skunks, sometimes rabbits, voles, groundhogs.

Alexis raised three daughters as a single mother?? Way to reinvent the past. She raised two of her daughters. Sam showed up in town as an adult. I just can't with Jason and Carly. The final scene with them made me want to puke. Why were the Canadian police the ones who came onto the bridge? Ryan had told Ava the border was on the other side of the bridge, which implies the bridge itself is American territory. I am really disappointed with the end of the Ryan Chamberlain story. He killed off a couple of day players and Kiki. Why do I care? I'd have like one major character to have been offed as well.

So Ryan pulled Ava and himself off the bridge - we're to assume into the Niagara River, I'm guessing - but he simply shoved Carly off the side of the road? I thought he was supposed to be some super-dangerous-kick-ass serial killer. How was pushing Carly into a deep ditch a serial-killer-y move? I am so disappointed in you, Ryan. So disappointed. Not only did you shove her into a ditch, but for some reason you untied her and took the duct tape off her mouth before doing so. Ryan, you have let me down.
