S08.E12: You Give Love A Bad Name

Here's the thing, Kate and Luke prove to me that the show doesn't truly vet participants, and that they are selected and matched purely for drama purposes. Kate should never have been selected for this show. If these "experts" or the vetting process were worth a damn, they would have easily discovered that she lacks self esteem, is easily manipulated, and has issues that should have either disqualified her as a participant or shown her to be the absolute worst match for Luke. She has issues, and I can't fault her for that. Would I be friends with her? Likely not. Is she a bad person? Likely not. Does she need some help? Most definitely. Luke should never have been selected for this show. First and foremost, he stated that he is such a private person. That, in and of itself, is either a lie or immediate grounds for someone to say, "Dude, this is soooo not the thing for you, then." Next, if these "experts" or the vetting process were worth a damn, they would have easily seen that the man cannot make eye contact when speaking to someone, tends to default to nervous laughter and backpedaling when questioned about things, and is insultingly dismissive of people who he perceives as less than his lofty perception of himself. He has issues that I can't fault him for. He can get help for that. Now, I can fault him for being a dick to compensate for those issues. It's not that hard to avoid being a dick, much less being a dick to someone you can see is affected negatively by it. I never tuned into this show with the expectation that these would be healthy, long lasting marriages. They're gimmick marriages for entertainment. With these two? I am not entertained. At all.

    S07.E10: Climate Quick Change

Here are my nits to pick. I mean, hey, if the judges can do so, why can't I? For Michelle's look: While I will say changing the pockets to sleeves was innovative, she created pockets you can't use. Because they're SLEEVES. In "pocket mode," they won't actually hold anything. What can I say? This chick loves her pockets. Also? That outfit was for wind? No. For Anthony Ryan's look: What is *wrong* with him? I don't care that he's never been in snow. The man lives in Louisiana. It does get cold enough there in the winter to require a coat, and when you add in the humidity, it cuts through coats. I live in Houston. We have the same weather here. I know of which I speak. Bottom line? The man knows what cold weather feels like and should know you want full sleeves on both arms when it's, say, COLDER THAN WHAT YOU ALREADY WEAR COATS IN." Dude should have gone home for that. Christina's look was not boot-worthy. "Oh, nooooo, we think it looks inexpensive." Dude, it matched the challenge and wouldn't have left her model half unprotected in the weather extremes she was given <koff>AnthonyRyan</koff>. She was robbed. Biddell's look was ordinary, but not worthy of bottom two. Just skip the rest of the competition and put Anthony Ryan, Biddell, and Michelle in the top three already. Clearly, they want at least one international winner, and those other two shlubs in the finals.

    S23.E08: Week 8: Hometown Dates

This episode was, I think, the second time they played the voiceover of Colton talking about his first time, which I'll paraphrase as, "It's going to be tender and wonderful and the best thing ever." I just think, "Oh, honey. Not to burst your bubble, but it's going to be awkward, and sloppy, and it will last less than a minute."

    S08.E07: Can I Trust You?

Thank you! This! I have no problem with Luke not being attracted to Kate. And I can see that he's now in it for something other than marriage. Is it exposure? Is it money? Is it contractual obligation? Who knows? But the bottom line here is that it is OK for him not to be attracted to Kate. It is even OK for him to totally be playing this thing out for (snerk) fame and/or money. I mean...he signed up for a gimmick marriage on national TV. It is *not* OK to be a raging dick about it.

MAFS Social Media, Spoilers & Speculation

If that was from 10 years ago, and he is 30 now, it certainly shoots down his "I didn't drink until I was 25" line.

    S03.E12: Songbird Road, Part Two

He's definitely older than 55. I'm turning 55 this year. I was 11 when the Vietnam war ended. Nicky is at *least* in his mid 60s, which is still not an old man, but the life he's lead has definitely taken a physical and mental toll on him.

    S08.E06: Honey, I'm Home?

Neither do the majority of marriages on MAFS. Grandma has a *very* good chance of outliving this (likely) eight-week relationship.

This Is Our Spoiler and Speculation Topic

I'm pretty sure the "Did I ruin your life?" refers to Nicky being the reason Jack was in Vietnam to begin with. Jack had a doctor sign off on his physical ability to enlist, and then enlisted, just to out for his brother.

S08.E05: 'Til Mud Do Us Part

Their rationalization is always something like, "We paired Luke with Kate, exactly because she's physically different from women he's dated in the past. That has not worked out for him. We think their personalities are perfect for each other, and he will eventually become physically attracted to her."

    S03.E07: Sometimes

Oh, God. I just had a horrible thought. What if Zoe is pregnant...and then Beth will get pregnant...and then the Big Three will have babies at the same time?

Oh, I have no doubt she likes Bobby. That's pretty obvious. I also have no issue with her waiting to say she loves him, but she finally did say it (albeit, in a highly pressured situation). The thing with her is that, through the magic of editing, we've seen Bobby do all sorts of things for her to make her daily life easier. We haven't seen her do the same. When she leaves him a note, she mentions how she loves the things he does for her. She never mentions anything she likes about him. As for the "women over 30" subject. Well, I'm a woman well over 30, and I can speak to the fact that dating after 30 has always been hard. Hell, I remember a study coming out when I was in my mid twenties that stated a woman's odds of getting married start to drop after 25. Ageism will always be a thing, sadly. That said, almost everyone I know who was married in their early 20s is on at least their 2nd marriage. The "married in their 20s" couples I know who are still married are solid like a rock, and none of them found each other through "the dating scene." They were solid in college and, in one case, high school. The thing is, I found the love of my life in my late 30s. At the time, she was in her early 20s. We've been together over 15 years, and will celebrate our 12th anniversary this weekend. The problem with "giving it a shot" with someone who is crazy about you (and who you might not be crazy about) is that she'd be kind of cavalier about everything marriage is supposed to be. I suppose that, without cameras around, she very well might have said, "Bobby, you're amazing and there's certainly something here. I'm not there yet with my feelings, but let's keep this going and see where it goes." As for his family, didn't Danielle say she wanted someone with traditional conservative values? If so, congrats! That's what she got...from him and his family.

S07.E16: All the Roads Lead to This

If people in Dallas are anything like Houstonians, if the A/C is on (and it will be from March to May), it will be blasting. That said, it's wholly possible that Tristan and Mia had simply recently seen Danielle and were still feeling the ice.

S07.E16: All the Roads Lead to This

I think the editors are so fed up with this season they're not trying too hard. I could have sworn in at least one other episode this season, and two or three times last night, the city skyline establishing shot they used was Houston's. I live just two miles from downtown Houston, so I'm pretty sure this is what I saw. No one was in Houston this episode, so...why? Did editors screw up and use footage they originally shot for Mia and Tristan's trip here, or did they just not care? Any one else notice this, or am I nuts? Oh, so the thing with the blankets? Summer in Texas is freaking hot. In Houston, the a/c units work overtime and yep...I've been known to curl up on the couch, in June, under a blanket. I can imagine they do the same in Dallas. All that said, I'm pretty sure this season must have included some kind of additional incentive to stay together, because at least two couples should have split on decision day. Ricky Bobby and Danielle will make it as long as he's OK with doing all the things for her. He seems to be offering to do so, so maybe he is OK with it. She certainly doesn't seem to mind being waited on hand and foot. The question is whether she loves Bobby, or she loves (what) Bobby (does for her)?

    S07.E12: The Art of Communication

He owns one in the Dallas area, if Allen, TX is considered the Dallas area. I really don't know DFW well enough to know all the suburban cities that are considered part of Dallas area. He also owns two in the Houston area. I did a little Googling and found they're in Pearland and Katy, neither of which this lifelong Houstonian considers "in Houston." I'm going to guess he owned the one in Allen first, and then wanted to expand. He likely figured Katy and Pearland would be fine, since he has relatives in the area, and thought he would travel here often. I'm also going to guess he was already planning to move to Houston when the show called and let him know he was selected. The big question is, did he move here after the show wrapped? I really don't know.
