    Tea with the Dames (2018)

I had so much fun with this one! I had heard her mention it before but I find it funny when Maggie Smith says they've sent her the dvd collection of DA but she's never watched them. I would have killed to see them on stage.

Oh Aja - while I'm so happy to hear from you, I'm really sorry that you had to work your way thru all that bullshit. And I'm so happy about your new job - good luck with that, I hope it gives you many years of professional satisfaction and fun. And yes - march all the tata's in your life (yourself, friends, family) straight to the nearest mammogram machine. I'm doing mine after I see my OBGYN for the yearly cootch check in April. Most insurance carriers pay for the 3D, so if you can get it. I still shake my head about my mom and her cancer that was totally treatable and totally preventable and totally liveable.

    Leaving Neverland

Heartbreaking...and I don't know many times I felt queasy when the men were describing what MJ was doing to them. What I don't understand and frankly never understood is why people gave him a pass on this behavior - I mean, how many molested children do the naysayers want before they can believe that their precious MJ is capable of these actions?

Oh Sew Sumi I'm so very sorry for all that you are going thru right now. I'm having good thoughts for you and your husband and MIL. Please vent to us if you have to. And do take time for yourself. I'm eagerly awaiting Captain Marvel - it's gonna be nice to go into a theatre and decompress with something loud and action packed. I wish there was something else I'd like to see in the theatre, but most everything right now is something I can wait for NF or blu. Did anyone here see Fighting With My Family? I am an old school rasslin' watcher and this actually looked like a lot of fun.

    United Skates

Anybody besides me watch this? As sad as parts of it were, it has some joyful moments as well. I loved roller skating, haven't been for years, but this made me want to start up again if there were only a decent place near me. We have one, but it's got not so great hours and it's all for kids, no adult night, that's for sure. I was never as good as most of these skaters but boy it was fun.

Everything went fine with the little colon peek a boo, they found a polyp and took it out but everything went good. I did have a minor freak out with the anesthesia guy, and got scared for a few minutes but managed to collect myself and told him to proceed. He was so nice to me, and after I apologized profusely he said it's way more common than you think for people to be apprehensive or have anxiety. Then I had a different anesthesia dude in the actual op room who said to me that he had heard I was anxious and I explained my fear of not waking up and he said very nicely to me 'honey, if you don't wake up, I don't get paid!' which made me laugh. We had some Oscar talk for a couple of minutes, whatever he shot in the IV did it's thing and I was OUT. Once again, so much better when people apply a little humor to the situation or find other ways to put you at your ease. I was there at 9:30, had to wait a bit to go back but I was out of the joint by noon. No pain now, just had a nice big lunch. Thanks to everybody again for your assurances and colonoscopy stories, they helped. Have mercy - hope you are feeling better soon!

Well...I'm hungry finally. Holy smoke, the worst part wasn't the bathroom follies but the damn stuff that I had to drink. The nurse at the doc office told me try it with Sierra Mist, and that sounded reasonable to me...except that I hardly ever drink pop, I'm not a big carbonated fiend. And while the stuff smelled great, like grape throat medicine, it was really friggin vile. I downed as much as I could as quickly as I could, then did the 32 oz of water over the next couple of hours. I'm not a big water fiend either, though I should be. I switched to white grape juice for the 8pm round but that was just as nasty. I'm waterlogged now and that taste is still got me. This really is the nasty part. I'm so glad I have a morning appointment because all I can think of now is a big Rax beef sammich!

I have to say I've been probably learning more about what won from the forum and youse all (doing colonoscopy prep, yuck and double yuck) and it's really appreciated. I'm so glad I didn't get to see Green Book win over Roma...or the other films. Don't get me wrong, I went and saw it, and liked it, but I didn't love it. It was Viggo and Mahershala that kept me there and I liked their performances. Wow...I am surprised, maybe not shocked but surprised, very surprised. I never get best flick right unless it's screaming obvious win. I thought for sure that Leave No Trace, one of my faves of the year, would sneak in a couple of noms, or that Ethan would get nommed for First Reformed. Shows you not to bet the same way I do.

Yes and a well deserved one! I know a lot said she shouldn't be in a lead catagory and she didn't do much, but there's something to be said for the restraint or the moments of understated portrayal that an actor can show with their character as well. She's wonderful.

We did get a bit of Stanley Donen in the clip with Albert Finney and Audrey Hepburn, in Two For The Road. I'll have to play it back because I didn't catch if Dick Miller was included, and honestly that's someone that should have been if he wasn't. I like the no host deal, it's clipping right along.

Well, I do love Ali but boy I so wish Richard E Grant would have gotten this one. After seeing the nominees he really gave the best performance.

The Documentary Branch of the Academy is long known for their WTF choices. Hoop Dreams anyone? I think all the docs that were nommed were deserving, but yes that beautiful day in the neighborhood was, my pick this year and I was surprised it got no Academy love. Not shocked though.

You are soooooo right! I remember pillow shams as well. Oh Maya.... This is either going to be a cringeworthy trainwreck of all trainwrecks, or it may be best show on record. It'll be one extreme or another.

Yeah I think that's it. Anesthesia in any form spooks the daylights out of me, even if it's mild, like this appears to be. Years ago, and right before I had my hysterectomy I had an occasion in my job to speak to someone who made a comment to me about how her husband had gone under for a simple (if there is such a thing) heart procedure and 'never woke up from the anesthesia'. I know that she was speaking from her grief and pain, and the husband had probably way more medical problems than I will ever know, but for some reason that always stuck with me. Add that to my already ramped up anxiety levels and the mind can play some heavy tricks. I had the same freak out mode when I was in the pre-op area for the hyster, so I know logically I will just get thru it. I appreciate all the good wishes and comments, it helps. It also helps that I like this doc that's doing the procedure. My X-mas treat to myself this year was a sweatshirt that has on it Bailey Bros Building And Loan Association, Bedford Falls NY and was wearing this when I had my consult. She immediately knew what this was from and we spent most of the consult talking about movies. I totally appreciate no bullshit matter of fact doctors, but when you throw in a sense of humor or a flash of on the same wavelength personality it's a boon. Yeah I'm not getting this either...now obviously you must have some love for a dude you've been with for two years, so did you ask him? Some men are just that clueless that their woman wouldn't appreciate a scale or other non-fun gift for their birthday. Maybe he's just one of them.
