    Morning Joe: All Episodes Talk

My most charitable assessment of this segment is that Joe was trying to draw contrast between the white evangelicals who support Trump and other religious people who are living much closer to the teachings of Jesus. Whether or not that was his true intent, I do think it's a comparison worth highlighting.

Yeah, now that Joe is supposedly "no longer" a Republican, he's doing everything possible to try to impose his own will on Democrats rather than fix what's wrong with his own party.

Good god, Mayor Pete is sooooooo impressive.

OMG, I heard this on my way back from the gym and almost drove off the road. She had a message. And it wasn't "I'm with her" or "It's my turn," as they maintained this morning. It was "Forward Together" and as campaign messages go it wasn't light-the-world-on-fire, but most campaign slogans aren't. Joe and Mika just never could be bothered to pay attention to what she was saying because they were too busy giving Trump his daily tongue baths.

You've hit on the heart of what is so annoying about Joe (and all the other ex- or Never-Trumpers). He no longer has a home in the Republican party, but rather than go full-on independent he's decided he must now co-opt the Dems and bend them to his will.

There's probably not much I agree with Tom Nichols about politically, but I give the guy credit for having principles. On the show this morning he basically said that no policy and no judge in the world is worth the trade-offs so-called conservatives are making right now.

She has her own show now, which makes her at least nominally a "pundit." Not that I think she's worthy...she is clearly showing she's not!

I completely agree. That's why I made the comment about the "torturous distinction." Remember when Obama was accused of being a socialist, a communist, a fascist, and a Muslim all at the same time? Without delving into personal politics, my point was, having people like Kasie, who's supposed to be some sort of political expert, perpetuate that misunderstanding is not helpful. She should at least be attempting to educate the public, but she's so focused on regurgitating stale talking points she's foregoing that opportunity. Oh, and I didn't think it was possible for Commentary magazine to put forth a pundit more punchable than Noah Rothman, but whoever that bearded blowhard was that they had on during the capitalism-vs-socialism segment could not have been more pompous and condescending. He took what could have been a good, thoughtful exploration of distinctions and differences and reduced it down to tired tropes and slogans.

He kept complaining about how he and Meeks were "mocked and ridiculed" for saying Trump had a chance. He failed to acknowledge that they were mocked and ridiculed for sucking up to Trump, giving him free air time and a daily tongue bath. Kasie Hunt can get off my television set right now, thank you very much. She is clearly angling to be the new Chuck Todd (as if we needed another one) with her tired, Beltway-standard questioning about "dissension in the Dems." Sheesh. There's a primary coming that will hash out a lot of these ideological differences! And, btw, Kasie, AOC does *not* "call herself a socialist"; she calls herself a "Democratic socialist," which is a different thing. Granted, it's a torturous distinction that flies over the heads of most of the public, but a so-called "pundit and journalist" should read up on the difference.

We cross posted. I do feel bad for him. Dementia is awful. He is pretty together, all things considered.
  11. Joe’s mom passed away over the weekend. He’s speaking about it right now. She had dementia. I’m going through something similar with my dad, so I sympathize with him.

Oh, I'm SURE she wrote it. That's her MO - spout off self-righteous platitudes that she can never in a million years live up to.

Mika was utterly insufferable this morning. Brave Little Toaster, with her impassioned "Here's what I would have said to Meadows" pre-written speech, as if she's not the same whipped dog who cowers in the corner every time Joe looks at her sideways. She is a joke and a fool.

I'm with you on the abbreviations. I hate that hideous diseases and hideous people have been reduced to cute monikers that diminish their horribleness. I don't mind "AOC," but that's because I don't think she's horrible.

Speaking of Mika's pseudo feminism, this Tweet she just sent annoyed me to no end. Why must she try to wedge everything into her stupid "know your value" frame of reference? I agree Tlaib should not have apologized, but she wasn't apologizing because she is a shrinking violet woman who doesn't know any better, as Mika would have you believe. She made a considered judgment to not drag the proceedings off course. You can agree or disagree whether that was the right thing to do, but it had nothing to do with her being a woman.
