    S01.E09: Songs About Texas

I love this show so much! This episode was the first time I could really see these characters as the same characters from the original show. It hasn't bothered me that they're different, but this episode still make me feel warm and fuzzy. I may have rewound and watched the scene in the bar 3 or 4 times. I wasn't sure what to think about Cameron, but I really like her being smart enough to go to Alex and Kyle, and I love the 3 of them working together. Also loved her telling Kyle she could kick his ass so not to dismiss her. I still have no idea what to think of Noah. I think there's more to him, but his reaction doesn't quite seem to fit with him being an alien or an agent. I'm so ready for Maria to find out they're aliens!

    Worst Book Parents

Totally agree, @Spartan Girl. I never liked Auden's mom in Along for the Ride either. She refuses to ever let her child be a child, favors her brother blatantly, and somehow doesn't notice that her 17 year old is out at all hours of the night and not really sleeping? I think McLean's mom is worse, but Auden's isn't far behind her.

    S01.E08: Barely Breathing

I think there's more to Noah than we know too. I lean towards him eventually being killed off (probably trying to save Isobel or something). After this episode, I'd be ok with Isobel and Kyle...I liked their scenes together and thought there was potential. Alex sure seems to have gone dark since he found that piece of alien tech. Kind of makes me wonder how that ties into what Maria's mom was saying and what they'll do with him in the future. I like Alex, but I'm still not sold on Alex/Michael and I really like Michael's chemistry with Maria. But then I don't want them to ditch Alex to go with Michael/Maria because I don't like the message that sends or what that might mean for Alex. I thought it was interesting that Michael pointed out that maybe someone didn't want them to remember their time before coming out of the pods. It seems like there's someone aside from Isobel who can control minds and likely posess people too. Michael finally interacting with Liz was good too. This show is slowly building to their version of Pod Squad.

    Captain Marvel (2019)

Me too. I was teary eyed at a couple of moments in this, which surprised me. I was thinking "sweet! There's no way we're not getting a young Avengers team in Phase 4!", and then I realized that by the time Cassie and any other children of heroes would be old enough, Monica would be close to 40. I still would love to see it, but I don't know how they'd make it work.

@SierraMist, I think that's what is holding me back from picking it up again too- I'm not that engaged with any of his hosts. I think Bell showed some potential, but he's one who has minimal impact and we don't revisit. And then by the time we cycle back to Davies, I had mostly forgotten him. At one point he was on host 6 (I think) and someone said he still had 4 more hosts, it took me a really long time to realize they meant he would still have a couple hours as Davies and a couple of hours as the Butler.

    Captain Marvel (2019)

I loved this. I was actually quite emotional throughout my first viewing because it felt like they had gotten so many small, subtle details so right. The subtle sexism that was present through the movie was spot on. I loved how Carol was competent and confident, funny and smart, got to show emotions and kick ass, and she did it all without wearing a skimpy costume or having a love interest. There was no female rivalry taking up plot time, and instead we got to see Carol and Maria's supportive friendship. To top it off, it had a mostly female soundtrack as well (I personally loved the Just a Girl moment, but that song was my feminist anthem as an early teen, so I'm likely biased). I took my 6 year old daughter to see it today. She hasn't seen the other MCU movies and has never seen anything rated PG13, but this felt right to take her to. She loved it. She's been playing Avengers with her younger sister all afternoon, pretending to be Captain Marvel. These movies absolutely matter.

I just finished The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. It is probably the most unique book I've read in years and definitely kept my attention throughout. It was at times very confusing and I did not see the end coming at all. I'm tempted to read it again to see if it I pick up on more detail the second time through.

    S01.E06: Smells Like Teen Spirit

I'm enjoying the hell out of this show too, and have gotten a couple of my friends hooked on it too. I never read the books and I feel like this is so different from the original series that I don't compare it. I laughed pretty hard at the Tess name drop this episode. I hope it gets a second season!

@Chaos Theory, is The Orville streaming anywhere in the US? I don't even know what channel it's on.

    S01.E05: Don't Speak

Holy. Crap. That was an intense hour! I went from being kind of annoyed that they were rebooting the show to liking it to now loving it! I've gotten one of my friends into it who never saw the 90s show and she's loving it too. I do kind of wish Tyler Blackburn had been Michael so he would have a bigger role, but I'm interested to see what they do with him going forward. I've not really bought in to Michael/Alex, but maybe that will change. I don't even know what to say. I still need to process what I just watched!
  12. I took a bit of a break from Hallmark movies to catch up on other shows, so am now watching some recently aired movies. Valentine in the Vineyard - I'm about halfway through and already know where this is going, but it's ok for background noise anyway. I am impressed that the other couple at their table during the compatibility seminar part were both men. Small progress, but positive progress. Sling carries Hallmark Drama in the same package as their other Hallmark channels, if anyone has been thinking of switching.

    S05.E11: Seeing Red

This episode lost me when Cicada- whose sole purpose in life is killing metas- punched rather than stabbed Nora. I zoned out for most of the episode after that. Started paying attention again around the big final fight...just in time for Barry to have a moment with Nora while Cicada escapes. I mean, Barry has super speed and could have taken the briefly subdued Cicada to a cell in Star Labs before returning to have his moment with Nora and it would have taken the blink of an eye. I try really hard to not think too much about these plot holes, but this episode was just lazy.

    S01.E01: Pilot

Yes! Someone else who loved Nathan Parsons on GH! I recognized so much of this cast, so I'm really hoping the show is good.
