S09.E10: This Can Go One of Two Ways

Donna isn't goofy. She's a straight up shady bitch. Even if I'm being generous to Donna and say that only 50% of what Chelsea and Cole say about her is true (because she doesn't film and we can't judge the scenes for themselves), she's still acting wildly inappropriately. She keeps "misunderstanding" and getting "confused" about court orders. Donna has a lawyer; she's not confused, she's continuing to enable her son's violent, addictive ways. If I were Chelsea, I never would've let it get to the point that the Linds had any kind of legal visitation (is it legally required visitation? I can't remember). I realize that's only one of Chelsea's many missteps, but it's one that I personally think is pretty bad. Aubree could've had a relationship with her grandparents without legally mandated visitation. The majority of the kids around the world do so.

S09.E10: This Can Go One of Two Ways

If you don't want to be on camera, why would you show up to an event you know they're filming? That's weird. Kail's segments are just...ugh. I hesitate to say they're worse than Janelle's, because I know the violence and abuse at the Land is miles beyond anything happening in Kail's house. And yet...Kail makes me want to punch her face in, which is not a reaction I have to Janelle. I want Janelle to disappear from the Earth for the kids' sake, but I really just want to shake Kail. I guess it's all that lost potential. I never expected anything from Janelle; she never had a shot at being decent. But Kail could've been so much more--for herself and for her kids. It's infuriating to see her continuing down this shitty path. Nova actually looked animated and happy at that dinner in PR with her family. That's unusual for her. It seems that, even though he's not my cup of tea, Devoin does give that little girl something the Coven can't/won't. I'm not calling Andrew a liar, but how could you not send a text to Barb sometime between learning about your dad's condition, purchasing the plane ticket, going to the airport, landing in Florida, etc.?

    S09.E09: Momster Mash

I saw the Tweet before I saw the episode, so I was paying close attention. I did see her keys in her front hoodie pocket, as well as her hand in there for half the scene, which definitely didn't help. But it's not like we can trust the current Twitter pic. Kail's been dragged before for poorly and obviously photoshopping her social media pictures.

    S02.E08: If Memory Serves

Um, does Melissa George just never age? I need whatever deal-with-the-devil both she and Patrick Stewart seem to have made. Also, tiny Spock is adorable.

    Kailyn: Kail Smash!

This is so interesting to me because a few seasons ago when Javi was throwing a fit about Kail going to that concert, I thought he was being an incredibly controlling ass. Of course, now we know that the Chris that popped up on Kail's phone during that argument was the Chris she was banging behind Javi's back. So in hindsight, I guess Javi was right not to trust Kail. Just like Jo was on to her true nature when they were teens, Javi knew she was fucking around too. Now mature adults would understand that a lack of trust means you need to end the relationship instead of trying to control your partner's every move, but no one on TM/TM2 is what I would call mature.

    S02.E06: A Happy Refrain

But that's the best thing about Ron Moore! Well, that, and his podcasts. Putting on BSG is the perfect thing when you're in one of those moods and just want to wallow. This show, on the other hand, has a very different tone. I actually laughed out loud when Lamar and Gordon were busting it to the bridge to share the gossip.

    Kailyn: Kail Smash!

As to why Kail doesn't vaccinate, it's because she wants to be special. It's the same reason she was spouting conspiracy theories about the moon landing a few months ago on Twitter. People who believe in conspiracies often do so because they want to be the special ones with the insider knowledge; they want to be smarter than everyone else and feel like they know something that sets them apart from the lowly masses. There's some actual academic study on the topic out there for reading, and it's kind of fascinating in a horrifying way. But bottom line--Kail doesn't vaccinate because she thinks she's smarter than all of us sheeple.

    S09.E03: Hurricane

As an elementary teacher, I was so annoyed by the scenes inside Nova's school. Obviously the school allows parents, since there were tons of parents ringing the classroom, but that's awful from a teacher's POV. Young kids are so much harder to deal with when their parents are there, and it's even worse on a strange day like the first day of first grade. I can't believe the teacher allowed herself to be filmed. I never would've signed that release. Also, what kind of crap school is in a strip mall next to the Publix? Is this a private school or a charter school?

    S09.E03: Hurricane

Tyler can be a douche sometimes, but he was spot-on tonight with the talk of getting therapy. Between Kail's issues with her mom and her recognized need for the chaos of unhealthy relationships, why the hell isn't she already in therapy? She's a mess.

S02.E05: All the World Is Birthday Cake

I was utterly charmed by the entire crew's reaction to getting a First Contact experience. Even Gordon. I was happy to see Robbie McNeal directing this episode. Brannon Braga always Tweets about episodes Jonathan Frakes directs, but I didn't see anything about Robbie. Voyager never gets any love.

    S02.E02: New Eden

That was a really fun episode. Tilly's always been great, but I think Dettmer is running a close second for me. I totally disagree with Pike's interpretation of the Prime Directive needing to be applied to humans, but the Prime Directive's always been loosely written to fit the story it needs to serve.

    S07.E28: Modern Families

Maybe in the real world someone should wait to see if an adult is home when they drop off a 9 year old, but this is reality TV. The camera crew was there filming, and the driver had to have known Maci was home. I mean, the cameras didn't just happen to be there to capture Maci painting, "I Like Her Butt" pinterest-y signs, they were there specifically to film a scene where Bentley comes home and talks to Maci and Taylor about the new baby. This stuff is all planned out before shooting. The driver knew adults were home in this case.

    S07.E27: I Choose You

Sex and gender are definitely different things, but I recognize that these stupid parties are commonly called gender reveal parties, probably because people are weird about the word "sex." Also, I'm a descriptivist when it comes to linguistics instead of a prescriptivist, so I just roll with it. Kind of like how 99% of the time when people talk about the vagina, they actually mean the vulva. But nobody wants to use the word "vulva." Meh. Also, obligatory "Cate sucks and Bristol's a dumb box of hair and Amber's an neglectful idiot" post for the episode. Could post that every week, and it would be appropriate.
  14. I've seen both situations. It really doesn't matter so long as one parent is an American citizen who has lived in the US for at least 5 years with 2 of those years being after 14. I believe the law is written that way so that children who are born in America and get an American passport, but then never live in America again after infancy, cannot pass their US citizenship on to their own children one day.
  15. That is worded in a way that makes it seem like the kids needs to come to the US, but that's not the way it actually works. I'm an American living abroad, and many of my American expat friends have given birth to their children here. They just have to register the birth with the US Embassy, and the baby get a US passport. If that weren't the case, children born to American expats would never be able to travel to the US because they wouldn't have a passport or any kind of citizenship documents. There are many countries around the world that don't grant citizenship to anyone born on their soil. ETA: So Paul will just need to gather up documents that prove he's an American citizen (birth certificate, passport, etc.) and also documents that prove that he resided in the US for 5 years of his life, with 2 of those years being after age 14 (school records, employment records, SSA forms, etc.) and then make an appointment at the closest Embassy for him and the baby. Voila! The baby has an American passport.
