    S16.E11: The Greatest

When they announced the theme of the EC, I hoped Laila Ali would appear. I confess to having a girl crush on her - I don't dig boxing, based totally on reality TV. She was amazing on Dancing With the Stars. Loved her on Chopped. And I could listen to her lovely warm voice all day.

And books make pretty awesome decor. Real books that have meaning in your life. (Not "books by the yard", or books turned backwards, or books all covered with white paper.) A "wall treatment" that provides color and texture, entertainment and information.

    Say Yes To The Dress

I watched the first episode of the U.K. version that was OnDemand. It turned out to be a themed episode, so I am hoping it was not typical. Professional royalty impersonators. As bad as the fame whores on the Original. Ugh.

    Say Yes To The Dress

Yes, the Northern Edition was quite refreshing! Brides (and entourages) who weren't made-up, dressed, and coiffed within an inch of their lives. No one who looked like she had single-handedly put some plastic surgeon's kids through college. Dresses at reasonable prices. I see that there is a British version of Say Yes. Maybe it will be the wedding dress equivalent of the Great British Bake Off. It's available On Demand. Fingers crossed!

My mom spent her last six weeks between a hospital and a nursing home. They were preparing to send her home when she took a turn for the worse and died. Mom lived in an apartment in a retirement facility. The place was kind enough to prorate her rent, but at $150/day, lingering over decisions is a luxury. Haul to the dump? Take to Value Village? Move to my garage, essentially kicking the can down the road? A whole life disassembled in a couple of days. Makes you think.

Those "bonus episodes" they called Northern Edition were from Say Yes to the Dress Canada. Not Seattle.

    Well, she is a Brit.

House Hunters: Buying in the USA

One of my favorite HGTV shows ever was Small Space, Big Style. Maybe about ten years ago? (Before the "tiny home movement".) A few cool cottages and DADUs, but mostly NYC apartments. It was fascinating to see what the people did to make the spaces work. Of course many of them had plenty of $$ to spend on architects and customizing.

Sorry, I can't help it. Fish heads music video. (Ear worm advisory).

    S16.E08: Whatever Floats Your Boat

(This may be the wrong thread, but) let's take a moment to remember Chef Fatima. https://www.eater.com/2019/1/25/18197759/fatmia-ali-top-chef-dead-cancer-age-29

I'm no hot-tubber, but I'm guessing you can turn off the power for at worst a luke-warm tub? The judges sitting all cool and comfy under the shady tent. The contestants standing before them, stoically looking into the blazing sun. I found that very disturbing.

Hey, let's turn Tidying Up into a shopportunity (Refinery 29 via Apple News)!

    Say Yes To The Dress

The last episode was much more pleasant to watch. But, what are the odds - the creepy fairy bride chose a Hayley Paige dress from the collection they were pimping and and the bride who had dismissed over 150 dresses was only happy with a Randy design? I cry foul. Is this like House Hunters, you only get to be on the show after the deal is done, then they film you fake-shopping?

I also wonder about the fate of the items that are let go. That collection of never-worn sneakers had to be worth a bundle.

    S07.E03: Buckle Up!

Since Heidi has "auf'd" herself from the franchise, I guess it's time for a new catchphrase.
