One Day At A Time (2017)

Usually it is but here I didn't feel like it did. For one, neither Todd (who I love in this show) or his wife are famous enough for me to associate the two of them together. Another, I don't recall any nudge nudge/wink wink moments. I agree. I thought he had a lot of moments to shine. I liked that the relapse wasn't a long drawn out affair. (Mostly because I kind of hate addiction storylines). I think it's more interesting to see him have to start afresh after seeing him comfortable in his sobriety and how drinking led him to stand up to his father. BTW, I liked the casting of Alan Ruck as his dad. I couldn't help but think he was playing Cameron Frye's dad. As for Avery, I too thought that would be too easy and while it was a happy moment, I do think it's going to be a fragile reunion. But this episode also felt a bit series finale-ish to me. I don't think they want it to be the series finale but Netflix has gotten brutal in axing shows it doesn't make it self. This is from an outside studio. I think that's why we saw Avery show up. I also think it's why they had Penelope admit to herself that she might not get one great love--she might have many. Ultimately, she was happy with who and where she is. I found that refreshing. Mateo's nice but she wasn't in love. Max was terrific but they want different things and there was no magical solution to why they broke up in the first place. I was going to save this series to watch leisurely over the weekend but once I started, I devoured it. I love it so much.

Dirty John, The Dirty Truth (on Oxygen)

There was some interesting new information. Or at least information that was talked about in the podcast/series but expanded on here. But overall, as a podcast listener and show watcher, I found it kind of dull and cheesy (hiding Jacquelines gave in shadows and reenactments. )

Dirty Future: What Stories Would You Like To See In Future Seasons of Dirty John?

The reason I started this thread is because the next season could go anywhere. It will be with different characters but I imagine, based on this season, it will be about real people. And, I would assume but I could be wrong, that it'll be based on either a podcast or another story that has been documented thoroughly. The same production company that did Dirty John put out Doctor Death about an incompetent doctor in TX. It's a very good but scary listen. Or if they stick with the same author who wrote the original LA Times story and narrated the Dirty John podcast, Christopher Goffard, wrote a story about the lengths a couple went to for "revenge." It's not gruesome but it's a fascinating read. I also just listened to Teacher's Pet but that's Australian. Or yes, they could find another con story that I don't know about.
  8. When they optioned Dirty John, it was reportedly for two seasons. With season 1 wrapping up soon, what story would you like to see covered in Season 2? Do you think they'll tackle another podcast (like Wondry's other big hit, Doctor Death) or find another Dirty John-esque story with a conman/conwoman scamming a love interest?

Dirty John in the Media: Beyond the LA Times

True, although I wouldn't be surprised if they paid Debra/family in order to nail down exclusive access to her/her story and any additional information.

    S01.E07: Chivalry

There's a new thread called "Dirty Characters In Other Roles." We've moved much of the Tammy, Tim and Cyrus talk there. We left some posts that had both on topic and other roles elements but moving forward, please take any discussion about other roles the actors have played to that thread.

A teaser aired during the Golden Globes tonight. I both can't wait for this show and worry I'm setting my hopes up too high because this teaser is amazing.

It was. That scene between his lawyer and Eric Bana's John when he brought up a post-nup and the drop dead gaze John gave him in response was perhaps my favorite moment of the series. That look and Ruck's reaction. So chilling. So good.
