    Small Talk: The Prayer Closet

I got a cold today. The son has had three colds since the beginning of January and I finally caught one. He was getting over one and now it sounds like he has the same one I do, so maybe he's on his fourth? Husband is working. Daughter has rehearsal from 4-6 and son has a concert arrive at 5:30 until probably 8 (which we have been told we can avoid because we've heard/seen the songs). I'm not looking for romance today. I'm looking for someone to somehow get some dinner in us before 8 pm tonight so I can crawl into bed at 9. @Jynnan tonnix said: My birthday is Feb 1 and Mr. Toast's birthday is Feb 20. We don't really do anything big or special but after Christmas and these birthdays and the kids winter break just after the Valentine's, we tend to just let it slide. I get a card but no way would I want to handle the restaurants tonight! Also, I'm not cooking tonight, either!

In a land of few rules there is a big one that a few people have seen fit to violate. We do not tolerate racism. This includes using pidgin English or other forms of language to mock the way certain ethnicities supposedly pronounce things. Any mocking pseudo spellings of egg roll or any other such items will earn you a warning. Taken to an extreme, it may well earn you a seat on the bus out of here, with or without gasoline soaked drawers. Questions? Ask your Mods, @PrincessPurrsALot and @frenchtoast

Class, Gender, Race, etc. in Commercials

This topic can sometimes reflect the the current contentious topic of the day. Everyone has been following the Be Civil Golden Rule nor have personal politics found their way in. But as a reminder: There does not need to be consensus or capitulation. Explain without making it personal. No one needs to respond or engage with every post. Thank you.

    Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

I agree, big screen. You could feel the music, though perhaps it was a good sound system where we saw it? It was a newer theater. I adored it and am so glad we saw it on the big screen.

We adopted our greyhounds from a group in Middleboro. But dang, that's a drive. I had to drive to Canton on Friday for the We go to PPAC to see shows. Love Providence!

I saw the secret agent being chased answering the call from his mother. "The squirrels are in the attic. Your father won't call an exterminator. He says it's personal now." I love that one! I'm hoping to see the Hump Day one soon.

Is it this one, @Brattinella? https://www.ispot.tv/ad/7xlX/giorgio-armani-fragrances-acqua-di-gio-dive-into-a-bottle It's one of the few fragrance ads that I remember because it actually matches the name of the fragrance. Well, kind of.

    Small Talk: The Prayer Closet

I think it means that many of the "smaller" and less visited forums will no longer have a Small Talk area. One of the required topics for new show forums was a Small Talk. If it's single topic, it won't have that. So, Star Wars Rebels will just be one topic and the Small Talk topic won't be crunched down. I have a feeling that Counting On will not fall into that category, so it's pretty likely that this Small Talk will stay. I can't confirm or anything, it's just it seems likely to me. Bon mot is French literally translated to good word. Anything clever or witty or inspiring etc that you or someone else wrote you might want to copy and paste elsewhere on your own storage or what have you. To verify that my understanding was correct (I graduated college with a French Language and Lit degree so I sometimes lose the English idiosyncrasies) I checked the Merriam Webster and it's almost exactly what I wrote. Having a daughter who asks what a word means has turned me into a dictionary. Though, as a parent, it's nice to be able to say in this day and age, "Ask Google. I can't figure a good way to explain it."

@doodlebug said: We went to Universal Orlando for the first time this past summer and we loved it!! It helps that three out of four of us have read Harry Potter. (So much so that son, who is not a reader, was nitpicking Forbidden Journey. Muggles can't see dementors, Mom! That's bogus!) My daughter (who is 12 going on 13) was chosen for the wand show. (For non Harry Potter folks--witches and wizards get their wands when they turn 11, so the attendants are on the lookout for that age group most likely) And considering the martyr airs she was putting on the Hogwarts Express as we were going over to Hogsmeade about how it was fine if her brother now wanted to get a wand she wouldn't get one. Even though we told her she and her brother could each get a wand. ($50 people!) The attendants maneuvered her right in front and made sure I could see. When she was ushered out before the rest of the group, the assistant said she didn't have to buy it. And she's all, "The wand chose me." It was awesome. And frozen butterbeer on a hot day is quite nice. We have friends that are Disney Vacation Club members we all took a Disney trip right as the Josh scandal hit. They would like us to go again after Galaxy's Edge opens. We loved that trip and my kids are looking forward to going again. @floridamom I'm sort of envious that you're so close. But we were there in August and it was so hot. Not much hotter than what we were having here in MA at the time. But I don't think I could handle that heat all the time. The thunderstorms nearly every afternoon was cool though. As far as adults going to amusement parks--we have season passes to Six Flags New England. It's about 2 hours away but it's a fun day. We're going to brave the cold tomorrow and see the holiday lights tomorrow. I will also note as much as Disney is lauded for their customer service and experience, we had excellent service at Universal. They were pleasant, fun, personable and knowledgeable and did everything they could to make our visit wonderful. It was awesome!
