Yes!!! Agree with your entire post actually. And as a possible unpopular opinion, I think Jin has a more interesting LP than Uno. It wasn't a good performance of it, but I'm interested in seeing what he does with it at worlds, because he's improved lots.

All those people were much more muscular than the men you get now in skating... The number of rotations you have to cram in has increased, with lowered muscle mass to make it partly possible.

Maybe. But they didn't try and land as many quads as are needed now though. Although Boitano's triples really were great, so I wonder what happens to skaters now? The training methods are much better and yet.

Wow, you know you messed up when Lord Voldemort himself tells you to care about levels.

I don't think he's as tall. Might need to dig up an IG post, though. I live for your H/D hate-on. XD

Lycasek, but that's not an endorsement for Cha. Cha will need to manage his height with muscle, and it won't be easy. Technical deficiencies will be there. There's also Kvitelashvili currently, and Orzel from juniors. On a different note, there's so much artistic emotion to Kaori Sakamoto. Wonderful.

I'm glad for the top 2 men, the two best skaters of the event were the top 2. Zhou didn't deserve the bronze. Should have been Messing.

The salchow isn't that great of a jump for him. It's absent this season. He's just not a great edge jumper.

This is pretty much fake promotion for the Olympics at this point. Got the 4Lo in before the Olympics, so that he can go in packaged as the guy who can jump all five quads. His 4S is missing too. He has 3 consistent ones, and only 2 done with any real quality.

I think Trusova will develop. I am more worried about Eteri's capabilities with quads.

Because the technology is simply different. The skaters now know exactly how to place their body and squeeze tight to rotate the jumps. It makes Ito's (and Harding's, although her technique on it wasn't the best) achievement MORE impressive on it, because of it. The zinger? I've read that the boots then were around 1kg heavy!!!! And they both JUMPED HIGHER than any girl who's attempted it since then.

I don't think it's exactly this reason. Mostly I think it's because mostly it wasn't needed. After Ito retired, we'd have to get all the way to Asada to see another consistent 3A, and she was against Kim. Kim WAS training a 3A; since she had much better quality toe jumps, got more of an advantage on PCS, and Asada got dinged on URs far too often, she focused on pushing her quality of execution more. I don't think the women with good axel technique have suddenly become more ubiquitous. I did use to think that it would happen if the 3A became a staple element (which it slowly will become IMO). But it more looks like the focus is on getting it rotated, using the modern technology to squeeze your body tight, than any excpetional technique.

His spins, footwork, three jump combo, 4T+3T certainly shouldn't, nor should his 3Lz+3T, 3A or his 4F. His technique is being overrated, especially he has technique issues on his toeloops. Look at how slow his spins are, or how tilted he gets in the air with poor outflow. He probably WOULD get +3s on his elements internationally, but it's based on his reputation as WC, not because of some genius. Credit to his great 4Lz though.

I actually liked this more than the one that was advertised. It fit the "modern" vibe the program was supposedly projecting.
