Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

I don’t see why he would be pissed off. Peter Dinklage has always been adamant about not wanting to play the stereotypical dwarf and has chosen his roles carefully for that reason. To be able play a character universally beloved, and then go on a hero’s journey that ends in a tragic betrayal and death is possibly one of the best character arcs ever in television if done right.

Exactly. For all the talk of “subverting tropes”, GRRM has written a classic fantasy, especially in his King Arthur, Aragorn figure in Jon Snow. He is your typical archetype romantic fantasy hero. Daenarys is actually a trope breaker, which in my opinion is why she is so divisive.

Also, this idea that GRRM is even pushing for this overthrow of the Monarchy is ridiculous. He has as his hero a hidden prince with a magical connection to a dire wolf who is a pure blood of two mystical noble houses, a Queen with legendary blood who can ride dragons and is who another pure blood of a ancient magical bloodline that SCREAMs destiny, and has written for years about the Targaryens, his favorite house. Since the Targaryens have been usurped Westeros has had a drunk king who was murdered, an inbred evil tyrant bastard king, a teen puppet, and now a mad despot. The two descendants of the Targaryen dynasty are the protagonists of the story and are being set up to literally save the world, and Jon Snow has the bonus of also being a Stark, the magical mix of ice and fire of the series. I mean, it can’t hit you on the head hard enough that GRRM is pushing for some kind of restoration, maybe even a Camelot after all the bloodshed and chaos of the War for the Dawn. The Camelot part is my own interpretation however.

Exactly. This idea of a peaceful , utopian time before Aegon arrived is Anti Targaryen propaganda. 🙄🙄 People act like destroying the Iron Throne is going to either usher in a USA style brand of democracy or restore a beautiful, peaceful reign of seven kings( or queens) over separate Kingdoms all living harmoniously with independence 😂😂😂😂 riiight. That always worked in medevil times .

Whoa your preaching to the choir here. I’ve been an adamant Dany supporter. I’m just saying, the Starks aren’t lightweights and i think it will be cool for her to meet some other badass mystical counterparts. Yeesh. It’s exciting that’s all. They have underplayed how awesome Ghost is IMO. I didn’t say she would be intimidated.

Anyone also really excited though to see Danys reaction to all the magical Starks? Seriously, she’s so used to having Dragons and being seen as this mystical Goddess, but then she rolls up into Winterfell, sees a huge dire wolf, a boy who is a godlike seer, a girl who is a dead eyed assassin with the ability to change faces, and a Queenly ginger who is completely unfazed . And that’s her boyfriends family. 😂😂😂😂im actually really excited .

I think it was to combat all the criticism Jons character got in season 6 for being anti feminist. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m being serious btw. Regardless of your feelings on BOTB, a lot of reviews and “ thought pieces “ and “ podcasts “ were super annoyed that Jon didn’t acknowledge Sansa in the war council. They even gave him crap again in season 7 for embracing his King role and making decisions without asking for her approval 🙄🙄🙄 apparently he seems to be shutting her up all the time and telling her to make him a sandwich. 😂 Anyway, I don’t think he means cripples and little children should fight. Just able bodied men and women. Arya was around 11 when she was learning. Bran was what, 9 or 10?Anyone able to carry a sword. It does make sense. The weak and helpless obviously have to be defended, but the ones able to defend themselves should learn, including girls.

This pretty much confirms they are the real deal. What gets me is how on earth did he get this information??? I have to say it’s impressive.

Here’s a question that doesn’t involve Sansa. What do we think the NK message on the wall is? 🧐 I’m starting to really get interested in this mysterious motivation

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

Whataboutism not a legitimate argument, and it’s tiresome. Not many people applauded Arya being a little rage monster last season in Winterfell. Her beef with Sansa was just as stupid and misdirected and she came across a Petulant brat. And I love the girl. Why does Sansas every single action need to be defended? He’s not the only one who made a deal with Cersei. Tyrion did as well, and so did Dany. Hell, Jaime tried to run her down with a sword a few episodes prior, Cersei outmaneuvered her Hand and took out both of her allies and still Daenarys managed to come to the Dragonpit and commit to a ceasefire with grace and look Jaime in the eye with civility. Sansa should trust Jon now. Her all seeing magical brother should be able to fill her in, and Jon has literally trusted her enough to give her control of the north in his absence. He has done nothing but show her his love and respect, in fact, he has shown her so much love and respect that people actually Ship them to an alarming degree. It’s only Sansa who has been continuously critical of every move he makes. And let’s be honest, since her magnificent rescue in the BOTB, what other awe inspiring advice has she contributed that will save the realm from the WW? Besides the Vale army, what can she do? Can she provide ten thousands of soldiers? Dragonglass? Mystical beasts? She has stored up food but preparing for a long night is useless when you are dead. What advice can she give him that Davos lacks? An apocalypse is coming and she’s pissed a Targaryen is here and Jons not enough of a feminist to do what she says 🙄 which again, has been nothing but Cersei is dangerous and don’t go to Dragonstone. Everyone is an idiot for trusting Cersei so she will be validated on that one pretty soon, and second, he accomplished everything he set out to do. Bam ! the powerful woman in the world is Team Stark now. And yes, it’s hypocritical to be nasty to Dany who is coming as an ally and a friend of your brother, yet keep the snake around who sold you to a rapist because you had weird feelings of attachment to him and because you recognized he was valuable. It’s hypocritical as shit and just because people call the character out for being written as such, doesn’t make us haters. But it’s also super annoying to have Sansa consistently defended for every little criticism. It’s like she’s untouchable but yeah, let’s throw every other character under the bus in her defense. The north are a bunch of shortsighted asshats and at this point they deserve the Randall Tarly treatment.

Also, interesting that Qyburn knows about the Ice Dragon breaching the wall already, and really Cersei doesn’t care? Whose supplying him with this information? Is it possible it’s Tyrion and that’s the betrayal?
