  1. If David himself is happy, then I'm happy for him -- and his size has nothing to do with that. I wonder what kind of response he'd get if he responded to his critics by saying, "Look I'm happy. Leave me alone about my weight. Yeah, sure, I know "you care." But enough already." I wonder if they'd back off and leave the man alone -- or get out their double-rowed claws and say, "yeah but you eat with your mouth full," or you "eat like a pig" or "you eat like a glutton." I don't think they'd leave it alone even then. But, if you're happy David. Then, "you do you."

Exactly what I was thinking. How could they...after Gary Groban and Susan Graver traveled through Europe and elsewhere to keep QVC on trend and at the cutting edge of fashion. Sacre bleu!

    QVC

What I picked up from that article (which is old now): -- QVC and HSN are going to develop their own proprietary beauty and skincare lines. My take: Personally I don't care. Whatever. I'll stick with tried and true brands like those I've mentioned already. --Qurate accounts for a whopping 60% of Xcel Brands' volume. My Take: I can't imagine anyone thinking that ONE company accounting for 60% of another business -- is good business. The deal was in late 2017, and clearly the merging or folding in of HSN is still evolving. I don't like what I see so far, but -- it is what it is.....so far.. I just hope my favorite HSN fashion brands survive. I believe they have LOTS of followers and sales numbers are excellent so QVC should pick them up. BUT ...we'll see.

Yeah. Which is why mentioned 'selling snow to Eskimos.' It's partly because some people will tend to buy almost anything with a celebrities name on it. But as Marlo Thomas sang decades ago, "free to be you and me." She's selling a product and if people want to buy it. More power to them.

I'm sorry, but even IF I like a shade of make up that Kim Gavel is pushing, I'd not buy it from her (and QVC.) I'm not putting another dime in her pocket. THIS viewer would never buy make up from someone who looks like a clown. (Then again you could argue, "who knows make up better than a clown?:)) But whatever that line is that she put her name on. Am I really supposed to believe it's got some great property that the truly great names in make up (Revlon Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clinique, M.A.C, Chanel) haven't discovered....or even for that matter the other brands that QVC/HSN sells: Too Faced, Doll 10, Benefit, Urban Decay, Laura Geller, Tarte, SmashBox, Models Prefer, YBF, It Cosmetics -- hell even Mally (heaven help us). That even Kim Gravel has a make up line, is yet more proof to me, that people will indeed buy anything. You truly can sell snow to Eskimos in this world. (As if Nene Leakes Bethenny and Frankel having clothing lines -- and Suzanne Summers selling supplements wasn't enough:):))
  6. Jane Treacy?? I know a few of my co workers did boo-koo overtime their last 2-3 years, to boost their savings and Soc. Sec. benefit later. I don't think she's that close to 62, so she'll have to wait for it. But what the heck, boost your savings, and live off some of that until 62 (or 65) ....and have your time be your own. Or cut back to part time. Lord knows, she's on the air every time you turn around.
  7. If you say so. But I think she looks older than she is.
  8. Loco Lori is only 62. Well, it's a rough looking 62. She's not aging well at all. Yikes! She's been rode hard and put away wet.
  9. Re Loco Lori .......I'm convinced that she really does think she's a Betsey Johnson type. Except, uh, she's not. I've always wondered how old Lori is. She LOOKS old. (that being relative, of course. But she looks at least like she's in her late 60s, early 70s. Comparing the two, years ago I remember thinking of Betsey, "She's old enough now that that scarecrow waif thing needs to go." But, a friend reminded me that that's Betsey's schtick, and it's not going anywhere. Some people morf or change their look as they get older. Others just stick with their schtick. I've always thought they both look stupid. But hey in fashion they call that being "whimsical" and "having your own style." Whatever. Did Tiny Tim ever change his look? Did George Burns ever give up his cigar. Did Michael Jackson ever give up his glove? (I just realized young people here won't even know who the first two examples are.. So I had to throw in a reference that was at least from the last 20 years!:):):)) Heck here's an actual spot on example. Iris Apfel. She's 97(?) SHE has never changed her look either. So I'm trying to figure out just for my own self, in my own head...why I'm willing to give Betsey a pass and just go with, "she is who she is." But Loco Lori, I just can't get past her personal presentation. Maybe, for me I think it's Loco trying too hard to show how hip, and on trend she is. And the others didn't. Whatever the reason, I just think Loco and her "elevated, on trend, fashion forward self" look and come off as nonsensical and vapid.
  10. OMG, I thought that, also. It's a bit long for a "tunic" but it's not really dress length either. I don't watch LOGO, as I hate the stuff, but did they suggest it could be a beach coverup? Since they seem to say that for apparel that they can't pitch any other way. (which, of course, THEY positive position pitch as "being an in between length." It's "in between" alright.

    QVC

QVC is doing its best to turn me off completely. Why is Peter Thomas Roth now makes jewelry? at $300 price points? He's a freaking dermatologist. Right? To me that's like going to a plastic surgeon when you want your house remodeled or an oil change. WHY would you do that? It's yet another example that QVC sill put anyone's name, on any product to make a buck. I know that's free enterprise, capitalism, and all. But damn. QVC Ali just said he grew up in the jewelry business, and that's really his first love. He said skin care was his hobby and it took off. But . He jewelry has always been his passion. As the saying goes: there are a million stories in the naked city. Whatever.

More QVC price insanity....$76+change for a Barefoot Dreams Shrug Cardi.
  13. Amy Stran just said Kourtney K sounded like a chef, because she could say the word "fusion" so well. Are you kidding me?. THAT kind of stupidity is unforgivable on air. But I suppose that's no worse than some of the other things we've heard. For all the complaints about: Mary Beth's, "here's the thing"...and Jayne not being able to see the monitor.... and Blabby not being able to take a breath when she's on a roll, ....and David's happy dance, ....and Rick's over excitement....and Carolyn's preening, and Jill's white pants....and Antonella's cackle...... and farmer Dan's jokes......I don't think I've heard those hosts say the same kind of utterly, absolutely insipid, stupid, vapid, inane comments of Amy, Kierstin, Stacy, BeautyIQ's Courtney. I'd put Shawn in that last category, but I'm not sure I believe her stupid act. The others I just named I believe they really ARE that stupid. And that's sad. (IMO) I also don't hear most of the male hosts say things that make you think they're stupid. They may not know everything, but I've never wondered about their basic intelligence. I've never thought, OMG, they really ARE that stupid.

I'd love for a caller to get through, and ask on air, for them to give the nutritional info, and why don't they give it, because "it's so important to all your viewers." And if host says there's just so much information to give...then say, well, "instead of saying the colors every two minutes how about just ONCE giving the nutrition information."
  15. selhars

    QVC

I'd bet they didn't tell you that on air, though.🙂 And I'd say that's rather important information. The same people buying a whole lot of other "crap" the hosts are shilling.
