I completely agree with this and I will take it one step farther. I don't believe that Delilah has any desire to have Eddie back, but she wants to make sure that Eddie is pining for her. You're right that Katherine means nothing to her--if Katherine had meant anything to her 9-12 months earlier, she wouldn't have slept with Katherine's husband. Now that Katherine has cleaned up Delilah's financial mess, she's no longer of any use to Delilah. With Delilah, it is always about what the other person will do for HER. Gary will lasso the freaking moon for her and Rome and Regina are always there for her, so they stay in her good graces. But as soon as soon as they cross her, they're out--Regina had the audacity to get mad at Delilah because Delilah cheated on her now-dead husband and it wasn't until Regina apologized for being angry that she was allowed back into Delilah's life.

I actually think we get more of Colin than we do of Sophie or Danny (not that I'm complaining, I'm always up for cute dogs.) But, yeah, this show has three kids and only one is used as more than a prop. At least there is a reason when Theo is off-screen. I guess Sophie and Danny just cease to exist when Delilah doesn't think about them--which is probably accurate in Delilah's mind. So, this baby will just be one more thing to be forgotten about. However, if a show can't effectively use the kids that it has (think Parenthood which did this well), it has no business adding in babies.

This is an example of really, really, really bad story crafting on Nash's part. Realistically, logically, believably, everyone should be questioning the paternity of that baby. I mean, everyone is old enough to know basic arithmetic and they knew when Eddie and Delilah were having their affair and how far along Delilah is--that should be enough to put everything into question. As far as most of them were concerned, Jon and Delilah seemed to have the perfect marriage--the only person who knew that it wasn't at the time was Eddie--so they wouldn't be off their rockers to assume that Delilah was sleeping with two men. But, no...Delilah says one thing--actually, she says two conflicting things--and everyone believes her. As has been hashed out ad nauseum in earlier threads, this pregnancy didn't just happen. Delilah had to make a conscious choice for it to happen, which doesn't fit with the story at all...but the viewers are not supposed to question that. Just like we aren't supposed to question why no one suspects Eddie might be the father. And that is a real shortcoming by Nash.

I also have a suspicion that, originally, Katherine was supposed to be the closest thing to a "big bad" this show has, which was meant to garner sympathy for Eddie and Delilah (Nash even said in an interview that Katherine had to take a hit in the pilot so that Eddie wouldn't look so bad). Then, Park comes on board and her clout sort of requires a larger role...and then SHE is a fan favorite and people are not fond of the Eddie/Delilah pairing..and things start to change course. As this is a network show, the network will want Nash to serve up what people want to see and if people were never gunning for Eddie and Delilah and are now gunning for Eddie and Katherine, well... On a bit of a tangent, this is why I watch so few network dramas. The constant change of directions that many showrunners feel obligated to do really hurts things. In streaming, *generally* the season is completely filmed when it airs, so the shows feel far more cohesive. Plus they can drop f-bombs and one should never underestimate the power of a well-placed f-bomb.

I would be thrilled if the intent was always for Delilah to rate high on the narcissism scale! I've been very uncomfortable with how this show seems to want us to sympathize with her but then makes her so unlikable. If that was always the intent, which would surprise me because I don't have that much faith in Nash's storytelling right now (for several reasons), I will have a newfound appreciation for this show.

And then Regina apologized to *her* for being mad at her. Well, realistically there would be no chance of Katherine going to dinner at Delilah's only days after learning about the affair, going to Delilah's restaurant's menu tasting, helping Delilah (FOR FREE) with her financial troubles... I think I'm with you...I'm out if Eddie and Delilah become a thing. It wouldn't be the first time I've left a show because they've but DG's character in an odious pairing...

    A Million Other Reasons: Speculation

It sounds like the life insurance, which was separate from Jon's business troubles but still could have been taken in them, was substantial. So, Delilah has money--now. However, there isn't that much money in the restaurant business, especially with a new restaurant that you co-own, so she's going to need someone to help her maintain her lifestyle soon.

This is my guess on that: I think that the character of Katherine was re-written when the role was recast with Grace Park. Park is a big enough star that she isn't going to accept a supporting role behind at least 1 actress with far less cred (Szostak, although I think Moses and Miller would both fall in that category as well). My guess is that she came into the role knowing that, as of season 2 , she would be one of the leads. Plus, look at social media. Park is a fan favorite, not Szostak. They need to keep her fans. This also leads me to believe that the Eddie/Katherine reconciliation is coming (sooner than I would like) and we're going to end up in a who's your daddy custody battle.

    A Million Other Reasons: Speculation

Gary idolized "Jon and Delilah" and Jon and Delilah. His response to Delilah about the affair was a 180 from his response to Eddie, and even included a line about how she should have chosen him and not Eddie. There is also this sort of underlying hostility towards Eddie, even though he's been there for Eddie when no one else could (Rome) or wanted to be (Delilah). Now, that being said, I also see your point about how it might turn him against Delilah. Honestly, I would prefer that (although I think the former scenario is more likely). I do know that when I've seen this sort of thing in other shows--because it certainly wouldn't be unique to AMLT--how the "teams" form is not what you'd expect. Of course, my dream scenario would be that Delilah is shut out of the group, but I doubt that would happen.

    A Million Other Reasons: Speculation

In the 1.15 thread, @iwasish wrote: I think it is a foregone conclusion that the truth will come out and it will divide the group. The question is *how* it will: I mean, Gary will side with Delilah, that one is for sure. I can actually see Rome and maybe even Regina siding with Eddie. Regina, after all, was upset with Delilah over the affair AND was relieved that the baby was supposedly Jon's. With Rome, I think he'll see Delilah as being the dishonest one here, which is why he'll side with Eddie. Maggie--well, who the hell knows with her. At some point, everyone's storylines will have to come together and this seems like the most logical way for it to happen.

Well, I believe they said he was 7 early in the season. Since 7 months have passed, it is more than possible that he is 8 in this episode.

I agree with this...although I would rather that, if Eddie and Katherine reconcile, it happens down the road and Eddie gets time on his own to grow up. While I think both Eddie and Delilah were forgiven far too easily, Eddie at least acknowledges that he made a mistake. Delilah has not even accepted responsibility--after all, she claims it was Jon's fault. I would really like to see her hit with a big dose of reality.

A Million Little Clues: Spoilers and Discussion

I think Theo is supposed to be 7, although he does seem older. We also know that they met in an elevator 7 years ago and that they were friends when Theo was born. So, I'm guessing that Eddie was already down the alcohol road when they met. Honestly, I don't think the timeline quite works, but the passage of time and calendars are not things that Nash seems to understand.

No, the affair was over the night of the funeral and I'm guessing that nothing happened between the death and the funeral (those are dark, but very busy--and very public--days). That's how I'm seeing it too. This is why I hope he comes clean about it to Katherine instead of Delilah using it as another thing to make sure he doesn't reunite with his wife.
