    S06.E10: START

All excellent points. I think it was very realistic that she would not end up in Russia. Both kids were too old and near adulthood to be forced to go to such a foreign, far-off and oppressive country at that point.

How soon you forget about Pastor Tim.

Yes, and it was a hit song from that same year, 1987, so all the better.

    Renee: The future is cloudy....

Very well put! I agree with this 100%

    S02.E04: Other Women

But June insisted Omar take her with him when she stood in front of the truck, and then was reckless alone in his home. She got him killed. June is a selfish, selfish girl! She realizes now, as Offred, that sometimes you have to go along to get along. She'll create a new normal for herself once she's used to it. It's only been hard because she keeps resisting.

Yes, she's very strict (as I said). But she tried to comfort her many times and even told her that Offred doesn't have to carry June's guilt. And also, instead of being angry that she ran away, she showed sympathy that she was "kidnapped" against her will. So that could have gone a lot worse. When you think about it, all of her disciplines were a direct result of one (or more) of the handmaids defying her.

It's good that June/Offred is now finally able to stop resisting and is being more mindful than willful. Aunt Lydia was trying to help her through her pregnancy but all she did was to defy her and act difficult. When you think about that household, Aunt Lydia is the glue that holds it all together. She has the conviction of her beliefs. She's strict at times, but truly has everyone's best interests at heart it seems deep down.

    S02.E05: The Kennedy Curse

Yeah, before it even happened I was thinking someone will probably accidentally call him "President Kennedy" and then he will be clued in to all. But her looking him up on her iPad and him seeing all his family's tragedies was moving. Plus there was the usual "fish out of water" trope that can be fun to witness.

I have to admit, that Hungry Hungry Hippos scene was hard to watch (I don't like witnessing domestic violence).

That it's never too young to get married?
  12. "Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones" was already a very well-done TV movie with a stellar performance by Powers Boothe as Jones. Did you not think that was sufficient? I thing re-doing something that has been done well is a bit pointless to be honest. There's plenty that hasn't been done that would make for good TV. Here's a clip from the film

    S02.E08: Creator/Destroyer

Yes, but let me ask you this: Did you see anything about how this was filmed or shot or transitional effects used that it was deliberately intended to be shown in reverse order? Did you notice any technique that wouldn't make sense if you showed them exactly as they are but in chronological order? I still say it was no different than taking any miniseries ever made and reversing the episode order (except for the final one, which is back to present day).

    S03.E09: Basque-ets

There was one line in this episode that really stood out and made me chuckle but now I can't remember it. Anyone else know which one I meant? Oh, wait, I remember now. It was when Ken called Chip and whispered "I'm in the bathroom" to which Chip responded "well congratulations" (not realizing he meant there at the restaurant).
  15. That's why I included her quote in my response. I was responding to her response and your follow-up.
