S06.E12: Whitney and Buddy Get Serious

I agree and think she would be far more inspirational if she worked hard, lost some weight, and lived her best life as a moderately overweight woman. I wouldn't buy her at a size 2, but if she lost enough weight not to be morbidly obese, then she'd be able not only to do more physically, but it would take away the need to prove that she's just fine at that weight, which would actually free her up to do other things that might be important to her. I've struggled with my weight my whole life and I understand that it truly is a struggle for some of us, but at some point by not dealing with the issue and pretending all's well, she actually reinforces that all isn't well and she really isn't in the good head space she claims she is.

There's a bunch of the "Lowered Expectations" skits on You Tube. Here's one in case people want a point of reference:

    Amy

Probably because Chris already had his own success before he met Amy, and well, Caryn pretty much just hangs on to whatever she thinks Matt has.

    Amy

Agreed and she isn't playing the victim like Matt. It seems like she's processed the divorce and is settling into her new life. If the show's previews are any indication, Matt's still stuck in the past, acting like Amy's holding him hostage when in reality, she's just holding him to his end of the divorce bargain that gave him his freedom from her. I almost wish she'd call his bluff about selling the farm just to take the power of the threat away.

Did I miss why the one homeowner who's working with Carter appears to be wearing a wig?

The other thing, too, is that health care in the US is highly variable in terms of accessibility, cost, and quality depending on where a person is. In an area where there are large portions of the population that's uninsured, there are probably fewer providers and those providers may not be the highest quality. That could explain a situation like Lenny's.

    S05.E10: Enemy in the Family

For a family that probably does well financially, they don't seem flashy in terms of clothes, cars, their house, etc. While they live in a very nice home, notice that their kitchen appliances don't all have the same finish, which if you've ever seen "House Hunters" is apparently a deal breaker for a lot of people.

I took "curves" to mean breasts, which probably would be much smaller with a significant weight loss. It didn't look like those were implants or even from taking estrogen, but rather from being very heavy. Did you notice, she wore a garment that pushed her breasts together, but when she wasn't wearing that, her breasts looked like they were just the result of being a very heavy male.

It's probably not as much a fear of dentists as a lack of money to pay for one. I really felt bad for him all around.

    S05.E10: Enemy in the Family

I have to wonder how much of Jazz's "unladylike" behavior is the result of not growing up "completely" as a girl? While it's certainly not too late to learn, I think so much of how we behave can be attributed to near constant social conditioning that she probably didn't have, or at least not to the extent that many of us do. It's an interesting question to me (but I'm a dork like that, lol).

Thanks for answering, I was wondering about this, too. And, I stand in solidarity with you, my IBTS sister, lol.

    Season 16 Discussion

My husband watches and I hate-watch with him while I'm doing other things. I really dislike all the contestant sob stories. And looking at the clunky red chairs coaches sit in make me stabby. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, lol.
  15. It looked like her parents were having a reasonably good time except for worrying about Whitney's fake contest.
