No worries; I had replied to that quote, so there's probably some glitch. I don't know about you, but I'm still getting used to the new format. I felt bad for Art, though, because he seemed to have had a bad experience with doctors and was clearly afraid. My dad, who's 71 and grew up in a big working-class family, talks about not going to the dentist as a kid and being fearful when he started going to the dentist as an adult. His big brother had gone into the Coast Guard and came home extolling the virtues of dental care. My grandma, his mom, was fearful of the dentist until she died.

I'm not sure what happened, but that isn't my quote. It isn't a big deal, but just isn't accurate. I didn't think Art looked homeless, mostly because I come from a working-class background and he looks like a lot of people in my hometown who've worked in blue collar jobs outside. 🙂

I feel really sad for some of the people on the show. It looks like the lady on next week's show is missing her front tooth. 😞

I really enjoyed this episode and related to Beth. I grew up in a blue collar household with a critical mother and I knew I had to go to college and get a practical job. When you come from a place where your parents didn't grow up with much, I think the need for you to be able to support yourself and do better than your parents can be palpable. This isn't to say that I have any regrets or harbor any resentments because I'm glad there were expectations, but I can definitely relate. I also see parallels between Beth and Michelle Obama's story. I think Beth's trip home will help the Pearsons' marriage because Beth clearly remembers what drew her to Randall. And, Phylicia Rashad was wonderful and looks great! Not to mention, I though the young actress who played dancer Beth really captured adult Beth's mannerisms and spirit.

I think he's nasty and the wife is agreeing to a sister wife to keep him. I'm tired of hearing her say that he's flirting or has gone too far-for God's sake, he's looking for another woman. How, exactly, does she think he's going to do that?

What drives me crazy is that there's apparently no thought in Buddy's head that maybe he should get his own act together before getting into a serious relationship, especially with a child involved. If he were committed to making a decent life for himself, it probably wouldn't take him all that long. But, by introducing a life-partner and her child into the equation, it'll be that much more difficult to get ahead and stay ahead. That sounds adorable! Babies are the best. 🙂

Don't get me wrong, it isn't that I thought what she said necessarily applied to her, but I do think it's true in general.

I generally think Whitney's a twit, but she did say something that I thought was spot on last night (and I hope I'm not screwing it up too much) about the only thing that people hate more than fat people is when fat people don't hate themselves.

Agreed on the makeover. I'm really over those "cold shoulder" tops. I thought the other surgeons told Jazz that she'd need more than one surgery to get all the major work done, whereas with Drs. Bowers and Ting, the second surgery is more just touch up and cosmetic revision?

My mom had one that caused carpal tunnel and had to be removed by an orthopedic surgeon. She was a secretary and had a difficult time typing because of the numbness and tingling or pain in her wrist. This was many years ago and it never came back. She was concerned at the time that depending on the way the surgery turned out that she wouldn't be able to work as a secretary anymore, but fortunately, the surgery was successful.
