Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

I keep thinking about the Winterfell Godswood and the weirwood tree there and wondering if the crypts, which we know are massive, run all the way out there under the tree. This would be a similar set up to the caves under the weirwood beyond the wall where Bran et al were protected until the NK touched him. Presumably the children of the forest placed those magic spells of protection, but could someone else have done it in the past for Winterfell? If Bran were able to get out there so he could touch the roots of the tree and still be protected, he might potentially be strong enough to warg a dragon or maybe even the NK himself.

Jorah has a very large sword that looks suspiciously like Heartsbane...

    S04.E13: Man of Worth

This. I've tried to care about Roger and Bree. I really have. I. Just. Don't. I was more moved by the priest and his self-immolating lover than the reuniting of Roger & Bree. That's pretty sad. I'm reading each book ahead of the season so I'm glad to know it will be a while before they give Roger and Bree the heavy lifting on the show. Maybe RR & SS can spend some time together outside of work and try to develop some kind of chemistry. I guess it is too much to hope for that they will just bite the bullet and recast SS this late in the series.

    S04.E11: If Not For Hope

Every time I see gemstones on this show now I assume someone will need them in the future to go through the stones. Those were so prominently displayed that for a second I thought Geillis might jump out from behind a curtain and grab them.
  5. Yes! So true. I attribute this mostly to MA's talents, however. Jack has always been a very perceptive, intelligent person and one of my fears in bringing him back is that they might make him idiotic. I don't have an issue if he comes back with questionable morals (he has always been a bit shady and scheming), but I do want his wit and humor to be intact as much as possible. I also agree about Julie. If I remember correctly, Eve worked for Julie in the past and Julie had her pegged even back then, so Julie would be a good person to talk to Jack before he gets too involved with Eve. Ugh... I hate even typing that...
  6. I agree. I am thinking of a recent interview during Day of Days that I heard from Missy Reeves. The interviewer asked her if it was really Jack and all she would say is "it looks like him." Could mean anything but, yeah, I'd be suspicious unless he starts remembering details like Atlantic City, the island, the firetruck, pushing Harper out of the bell tower, etc. Props to Jennifer for trying to trigger his memory with the jade plant...
  7. Wouldn't it be funny if Jack sees Kayla and remembers her but no one else? Part of me would kind of love the angst of that... I really hope the writers come through for MA and MR this time around because I have waited a VERY long time to see them together on my screen again!

    S04.E08: Wilmington

This is one thing that really bothers me. Both Frank and Claire have British accents. During Brianna's formative language years, I would think she would have mimicked her parents' way of speaking. I have two friends IRL who are American with British parents and they both have British accents- not as strong as their parents, granted, but certainly not what I consider "American."

    S04.E07: Down the Rabbit Hole

It's unfortunate that Brianna didn't know about the other sets of stones scattered around the world. She would have saved herself two trips across the Atlantic! I have always been meh about Frank but I actually loved the last scene with ghost Frank handing Brianna off to Jamie. I suspect that is the last time we as an audience will see him. Hats off to Tobias Menzies for giving life to two such unique and complicated characters. It couldn't have been pleasant getting into the mind of Blackjack Randall.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

So I was looking at some comments on Reddit and Starks4eva made this interesting statement: Someone told me something about the teaser about 5 weeks ago and it sounds like it may be true. Although at this point I fully admit I'm so desperate to get something I'm not thinking clearly. They said the teaser will be "statues of the cast turning into ice breaking and blowing in the wind. Like the Wall of Faces teaser" So we had Sophie reveal not too long ago that a statue was made of her and some were speculating that it was a possible spoiler for Sansa's death. We know a statue was made and this kind of teaser sounds plausible. I could see HBO preferring a sort of generic teaser trailer like this rather than spoil actual footage from season 8. Thoughts?

    S04.E08: Episode 8

Kind of a bittersweet ending but I really loved the moment on the cliffs where Ross remembered a young and happy Elizabeth (I think that was footage from season 1? - not sure, it's been a while). After all she went through, that was a lovely last image of her fading away into the sunset and the sea. I had mixed feelings about her, but I agree she was interesting and will be missed.

    S04.E01: America the Beautiful

I actually really liked the circle narration and accompanying visuals in the beginning. I thought it was cleverly done. Not a fan of the closing song, though. Something purely instrumental would have been more moving and appropriate, I think. I agree with whoever said Cait hit it out of the park. Despite the distracting soundtrack, I felt her pain right through the tv screen. I'm not sure what actual value Jamie's ring would have to Bonnet, though. The gold one would have been worth far more to sell.

    Jon Snow: He Knows Nothing

I was rewatching season 4 recently and I noticed something Karl Tanner said to Jon prior to their fight. He said "Lord Snow. You bringing me back for trial? We had a good thing here. We were free men. You'll never be free. You'll never know what that's like." It struck me as perhaps a bit of ironic foreshadowing. I still think Jon will survive but he will refuse the throne. He's never wanted to lead, and, once given an actual choice, I think he will choose to live his life instead of ruling. He might die- but it is pointless storytelling, imo, to let him be resurrected only to die again. It's more powerful to let him live and be the rightful ruler but choose to be the catalyst of change. He deserves freedom, not the responsibility of a kingdom.

    Jon Snow: He Knows Nothing

Why wouldn't I have the idea that not all Targs have dragon blood? It's been hammered home since S1. Dany was constantly talking about being a dragon and dragon blood. When her brother was killed she said 'he was no dragon' Dany's comment was metaphorical. Viserys was a Targaryen and had dragon blood, but he was weak and cruel and that's why Dany said "he's no dragon." She was commenting on his character, not his actual bloodline.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

I think the only hope Rhaegal has to survive is if he has a rider. Dragons are intelligent, but I'm not sure he can evade the NK's attacks without assistance.
