    S07.E11: Jeanne's Story LIVE CHAT

When my husband died I lost 15 pounds in under 3 weeks - I could not eat. Then one day I tucked into an apple pie and ate like I had a show on TLC for a month and gained 20 pounds. Grief is so weird. This episode is so damn depressing I need to find a kitten to cuddle. The outlook is just not good on so many levels.

Heh, I live in Florida and randos yell shit at me (and sometimes my dogs) on the regular. Most of the time it’s a tourist, sometimes it’s a sassy senior in Publix who wants to shame me for not using coupons or buying Boar’s Head at the deli, but it’s always a treat when it’s one of our own all stars just being a douche. Ah, Florida. You complete me, lol. That woman in the parking lot - I don’t get being horrible just to be horrible. I can snark on the folks on this show and all, but when I see someone who is struggling just to exist in public my first instinct is to help, not yell, good god. Like the whole plane drama most of them have - the whining is insane, but honestly, if someone filmed me while traveling, I don’t think I’d like the results, lol. Doesn’t make their travel scenes any more fun to watch - I ffwd through most of the travel scenes anymore.

There used to be a little Thai place near me that served fries on the kiddie menu, and my friend's young son went ape shit over those fries. One day my friend and I tried them and OMG they fried them in whatever the heck McDonald's used in back in the late 70s/early 80s when I was a kid, and it was like stepping back in time and they were SO GOOD, lol. We were like, "pretty sure these were fried in asbestos and we DON'T CARE." The last time I had McDonald's the fries left a film in my mouth that lasted for hours. I cannot imagine eating that crap on the regular. I was glad once her hair started growing out because that bad bleach job was doing her no favors. And good LORD I swear they have 4 Mad Libs scripts for this show. They all say the same things.
  4. It's really sad. In the 20 years I've been here, the change has been dramatic. Nobody goes to Clearwater anymore - and that wasn't the case when I first moved here. I only ever go to see concerts at the Capitol, and then I get back to St. Pete ASAP. It's just creepy.
  5. Exactly. This is BEYOND disgusting. I'm physically ill.

In a million years I never would have gotten any of that and I still loved it, heh.

Omg, on ep 3 and LOVING it! Brilliant!
  8. I live in Pinellas County (not in Clearwater) and I was so NOT surprised to see multiple Clearwater cops responding to nothing for what seemed like a pretty long time, heh. When I moved here in 1999, one of the first people I talked to at my new job gave me 3 pieces of advice about living in the area: Do the stingray shuffle when you're in the water, steer clear of restaurants during Early Bird Special time, and stay the hell out of Clearwater because it's "nothing but a cult and Hulk Hogan's trashy family," lol. Clearwater is actually lovely and there are lots of non-cult-related things to do and see, but what the cult has done to downtown is really sad. I went to a concert in downtown Clearwater last year and was stopped at the light right smack in the middle of HQ, and I felt weirdly nervous. And it was the first time I had been near the Ft. Harrison and NOT seen young cult members out and about. It was like a ghost town - it all felt super creepy. ETA: I thought the show did a pretty good job explaining how the cult bought Clearwater. To me, it really pieced together a bunch of stories I knew and put them on a timeline that made more sense than what was jumbled in my head from reading various articles over the years in the St. Pete Times.
  9. Yeah - the HSN stuff is not that big of a deal. Inventory drives everything - B would be FAR from the first brand to move a premiere date because of inventory. And HSN getting a housewife with a reach beyond bravo is a plus for them. And I am out. I get it - people hate B. But is just a lot.
  10. Yes - this! I was so excited about her at first, and then...yeah. Bam. Boom. Nothin’. She could have shown what hard work it really is - I honestly looked forward to a window into her process. But her process appeared to be taking nothing seriously.
  11. I think part of the reason why I am hard on Carole is that I am a writer - I do well enough in my field - but I would love to have the fiction publishing connections she has that she wastes. I sat and watched her blow off deadlines and laugh about it and I wanted to scream. My life is ruled by deadlines - arbitrary or not (TM Southern Charm Craig). I don’t make my deadlines, I don’t get paid, and I stop getting clients. My ki’in and dogs not named Baby don’t get food, heh.
  12. Right? Lol. Maybe if it's Insta-only activism? Like, so she doesn't have to actually work.
  13. Her "quote" in the press release is...well, it's a press release quote. https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2018/09/27/1577151/0/en/Evine-After-Dark-Celebrates-One-Year-of-Groundbreaking-Success.html
  14. Oh, yeah — I totally get the need, and I was totally serious about the gift card and the tampons, lol. I really didn't understand why anyone was questioning it, because shelters need things like that for the reasons you outlined (and Spike Lee highlighted). Every year people who have never been near a hurricane do a lot of armchair quarterbacking about how to evacuate, what to do, what people need, etc. But it's really a ton more complex than it seems, and every hour can seem like a day. (During Katrina I remember watching the Superdome on TV and telling my friends, "I would rather have a pap exam twice a day for the rest of my life than spend 5 minutes in there." It looked horrifying.) It'll be interesting to see how B Strong progresses in the future. Clearly, the woman has many flaws, but I think B has a real passion for it and she's got the "I don't care if you think I'm obnoxious will you do it?" quality that makes her good at making things happen. It absolutely feeds her ego, but I also think she actually gives a shit.
  15. I appreciate her efforts—and everyone else's efforts—to help people in need. And the next time I'm displaced by a hurricane I will happily take a gift card and some tampons, lol. Even if you just have to evacuate to a safe place for a few days, it's expensive and exhausting. Forget about it if you have a damaged home and/or no place to go. Good on everyone helping.
