YMMV, but I maintain that The Expanse is the best Sci Fi show of the late 2010's. The Orville does have its' charms and is quite enjoyable and thought-provoking.

I continue to appreciate the thoughtfulness of you posts, @Danielg342 There may have been some historical event that made Moclans so fearful of women, although I don’t know how the egg thing can work with one gender. You can in theory survive as a species with just women, but not with just men. But that’s besides the point here. I don’t think is IS a good, rational explanation for the Moclans Hetrophobia. The Moclans are a rather obvious stand-ins for human prejeduces, so let’s imagine if an alien envoy was visiting Earth. This being would wonder why some humans do not acknowledge the worth of those of a certian gender, skin pigmentation, or sexular orientation. The alien vistor wouldn’t find an good explantion, becuase there isn’t one.

So did Bortus and Locar divorce without a stabbing? Or was it a non-fatal stabbing? Or are there other ways Moclans can get divorced?

Bortus clearly respects Claire, Kelly, Alara and Talla, which is more that a lot of Moclans are possibly capable of. Bortus is working on being more open-mined. It's difficult for him, but he's trying. I can respect that. I don't see how he can stay married to Klyden and stilll serve on The Orville. I wonder what Moclan child custody battles are like...

That’s a good point, it is too easy at this point to dismiss Klyden as a close-minded A**hole Although I predict Klyden will be at the receiving end of the next divorce stabbing.

Ash looks great with the longer hair and beard. Welcome back Dr. Hugh! His resurrection seems convoluted even for this show, but I like the character so I’ll allow it.

So does the UT preserve accents? In TOS Scotty and Chekov spoke with accents. I'm overthinking this.

If we have a Space Symphony, next I want a literal Space Opera.

    Small Talk: The Coffee Machine

I've read two or three of the books in the Sector General series by James White. And not recently either. Some of the early books were written over 50 years ago! Not great literature, perhaps, but I recall they were interesting and fun to read, with a different viewpoint on BEMs. And at times quite funny! I loved that series! The aliens were so....alien. And I loved the optimistic future. I could see this taking place in the Star Trek or Orville Universe.
  10. I think the late Majel Barrett-Roddenberry would have enjoyed Rebecca Romijn's new interpretation of the iconic Number One In 1964, a female First Officer was too much for the Networks to handle.

    S02.E04: An Obol for Charon

It never occured to me that the UT would effect writing as well as speech. I know that sometimes the UT is an implant or an app of some sort on the communicator, not something deep in the guts of the ship's AI. It varies due to the circumstances. As we get closer to the TOS era, the technology seems to be regressing. The spore drive and holographic communications will be phased out. And Number One isn’t here for a judgey food replicator.

I thought they all spoke "Universal Standard", which sounds like English to us viewers. (Sorry for all the liking and unliking @starri. The new format takes some getting use to)

Really? You're a fan of DS9's the Emperor's New Cloak? Or Resurrection? Too bad we never had a TNG Mirror Universe episode(s). Mirror Picard would have been spectacular.

Yes, I'm would not pay extra to watch this show-my bill is too high already!

    S02.E06: A Happy Refrain

Although The Orville is more episodic than serialized, I do appreciate the attention to continuity. Another example from this season is the ramifications of Topo’s sex change surgery, and how it contributed to Bortus’s porn addiction
