    Captain Marvel (2019)

I loved just about everything. I am honestly not getting the backlash that this is a "feminist" movie or that it had a political agenda. It didn't come across as Grrrl Power or anything like that. It was a superhero origin story. I mean, it didn't ignore the fact that she's a woman and it did acknowledge realities, but I didn't feel like it beat you over the head. I was really digging the 1990's setting too. I was a teen-young 20's in the early 90's so the music, clothes, the computer stuff, it was all awesome for me. The mid-credits scene got me so excited for Endgame. I almost screamed. I can't wait to see Carol with the rest of the Avengers.

What for? I've never heard anything negative about them. Nevermind, saw the post above. I think one can be sad that someone died, that their life is over. Doesn't necessarily mean they support everything that person did.

Wow, what? That's concerning. As a parent of a figure skater who will be headed to training camps and such in the next couple years, I want this investigated. It doesn't matter if he's dead, there are always other people involved in the cover-ups, and they need to make changes to not allow this kind of thing to happen in the first place. ALL sports should learn from the horrendous things that happened in gymnastics. I am also kind of grossed out by the tweets I'm seeing that he should not have been suspended until the investigation is concluded. Uh, no. A suspension is just that. He wasn't kicked out. He needed to be investigated, and if innocent, then he would be reinstated.

Do you have a link to the scoring for jumps? I found it last night, but now I can't find it again. Ugh. When I was looking at it, I was comparing the same jumps, say a 4S to a 3S. It seemed to me that a 4S with a fall deduction (-3) was worth more than a clean 3S. I wasn't factoring in any other + or -, just going off the base value. My son is about to test to skate at Juvenile, so I need to learn this stuff anyway. He is a bit of a jumping bean, but his landings can be inconsistent. I really want him to get cleaner, and not just go out there and jump for the max points.

Apparently, there is a solo dance competition series. Maybe because it's not on an international scale like Singles, Pairs, and partner Ice Dance, it doesn't get much recognition? https://www.usfigureskating.org/programs?id=84172

    Spider-man: Far From Home (2019)

Finally saw the trailer and I loved it! Need to go watch it a few more times. Really looking forward to more MJ in this movie.

IMHO, IJS scoring should really deduct more points for falling on jumps. There is no reason that a quad jump that was not landed is worth more than a triple landed cleanly. I hate seeing this push to Must Have Quads, even in ladies' skating.

    Spider-man: Far From Home (2019)

GAH!!! I'm at work and I was in a big huge hurry this morning and didn't see that the trailer dropped. Too many people around and I can't watch! Might have to go watch it in the bathroom. Fucking dying over here. I cannot wait for this movie!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe: The Avengers, etc.

Is there any word on when these series are supposed to take place? Post Endgame? Or possibly the various series are at different times, given Loki supposedly died and wasn't snapped. I am SO down for the Bucky/Sam series. That's the one I'm most looking forward to. I love the A-team-esque idea. I'm basically shut up and take my money for this whole thing, even the ones I don't care that much about like Lady Sif. I love that characters will get to be explored more in depth and storylines can be expanded. Probably my biggest complaint with Marvel movies is the lack of screen time for characters not named Tony Stark.

I think there is singles ice dancing, but it's not officially a USFS discipline. It would be a great idea and would open up serious competitive figure skating to those skaters who are not jumpers and don't want to do partnered ice dancing. Once a kid hits this point where they have to have an axel, that's where some end up giving up. A friend of my son's (these are 10 year olds) was about to quit because she can't get her axel. She ended up trying out synchro and loves it, so she switched from freestyle to synchro. She's a very graceful skater and has great footwork and her spins are good, she's just not a jumper. It stinks to have kids like her give up just because they can't jump. Also for females, you have to have a certain body type to be partnered for ice dancing (read: you need to be petite and lightweight). So these two things can really shut out a lot of otherwise good skaters from competing in figure skating.
  11. She coughs daintily into a handkerchief and then looks at the blood spot on it, as the camera lingers on the red stain on the lacy white handkerchief, then pans to the fragile heroine''s pained look on her face.

Don't forget not having the lid on the blender on tight or using a mixer and stuff spraying everywhere.
  13. Yes, this was on House all the time, when the House-ettes would go through the patient's home looking for clues. "There was a bottle of Robotussin! He must have been Robo-tripping!" "She had a half-empty bottle of antacids! Check for ulcers!" I keep basically a drugstore in my house. Doesn't mean I'm using all this stuff all at once.

The only recent show that comes to mind that dealt with abortion was The Affair. The teen daughter had an abortion when she got pregnant. It wasn't all political or a bunch of hand-wringing about it. It was just, this is the option that makes sense in this situation.

I can't get it to work on three different Netflix apps. Apple TV, the app on our TV, and on the Tivo. I give up for tonight. Bleh.
