Hmm...interesting. I certainly hope nothing is wrong, but I couldn’t help but notice.

I don’t usually comment on babies, but her lips look blueish/ grey. I hope nothing is wrong.

Thank you! I was aware that giving away “gear” wasn’t generally accepted, and I do understand. Not their job to keep up with recalls and such! I was hoping to give away only clothing and swaddles. I found one young mother through a friend that can use some of it, some was given to a local women’s shelter, and the rest to our community aid store. I was hoping churches would have been more receptive...maybe I’ll keep trying as my daughter keeps growing out of sizes!

This is off google when I found out I was pregnant for the first time, but the home pregnancy tests are getting better and rarely produce a false positive. Also, both times I found out I was pregnant, I never saw my OB/GYN until 10-11 weeks, even they went off a home pregnancy test.

🤦🏻‍♀️Forgot about FB Marketplace! Thanks! Tried our local ones...they would rather money. I was even hopeful they would have taken my stuff and distributed it to those they felt needed it, but nope. They don’t have the storage for it, or that’s what I was told.

No, but this sounds perfect! Thank you so much! Yes, the Moms houses are for women coming out of domestic violence situations with or without children. I have no real problem giving to goodwill, community aid, etc but since a lot of our baby items were gifts or hand me downs it doesn’t sit well with me to ask for someone else to pay for it, especially someone genuinely in need. I have asked a few of my friends, and I’ve even intentionally chose different denominations than mine! Thank you!

This made me think of something. I’ve stated before that I’m a Christian, and I’m actively involved in our church. Anyway, I’ve recently had our last child and I cannot give away our stuff...our church doesn’t know of any needy family?! Our local school district social worker has nobody in need? And the local moms homes that I’ve tried don’t want used, they want money for new items. If someone is in deseperate need of baby items where would they go?

You know, that is so interesting...I’m of the Christian faith (not fundie). I have an older child with special needs (Down Syndrome) and recently had my second. The second child as a newborn was HARD! She was so very fussy, trouble breastfeeding, only liked to be held, and didn’t take a pacifier. The looks I got from other mothers when they asked “is she a good baby” I would honestly respond “no”...it doesn’t mean I loved her less, or I regretted having her, but it was honestly a really hard adjustment at first. I was tired, frustrated, and emotional. When people ask how it’s going, I really think people assume most will say “it’s great!” And this is why we have women with PPD and the feeling of nowhere to turn for help. I couldn’t imagine being around people that I couldn’t be honest with. Or gotten help, if it came to that.

Sounds like I’ve been doing life in the wrong state all these years! Although, your climate is generally warmer which I would appreciate!

I agree with a lot of your post. The only thing I’m say, no matter if they choose to have 2 children or 20 children, they need to be cared for. Even if Jill would get a job while Derick goes to school, childcare would break them. If Jill hates being a SAHM (I agree, she doesn’t like it) going to work part time wouldn’t provide an income, the money would go to childcare. If Jill was allowed to ever get a job, it would be self-fulfilling, not for money. Many people I know kept their jobs after children and bring practically nothing home financially but leaving their job creates other challenges. For example, I left my job as a teacher to be at home and my husband is self employed. (I’d be bringing home less than $7,000 a year after childcare, gas, commuting, clothes, etc if I kept working) I’ve been home now 5 years, haven’t done anything to continue my credits I need to maintain my teaching credentials, I’m so out of the loop that going back would be very difficult. I’m basiacally an undesirable candidate anymore. This is a job that pays well and I was well qualified for! I had a girlfriend keep her job, again bringing nothing home financially, but said that in 5-7 years she has so much growth potential at her job that leaving would jeopardize climbing the corporate ladder. Then helping to provide a nice life for their family. The worst part is that neither Jill or Derick have any goals or aspirations. Sure, Derick is in school now, but I doubt he will ever actually use a degree, if he gets it. It’s disgusting if his mom is providing for them at all even if Jill worked.

    Except Chelsea (and Cole)

Do we know for a fact this was Christmas morning? It could have been later in the day celebrating. I can’t fault her here either.

Why doesn’t she post a picture of herself holding the baby without showing his face. Covering his face is dumb!

It is odd, your whole post is correct. God forbid the US actually pay their staff for providing a service! Do not apologize for cultural differences!

Oh I hope I didn’t come across saying they were being rude! I agree, I don’t think they knew to leave more...but because of that, they always stood out as “bad tippers” over here!

I waitresses for years...not many. I only got a few bible leaflets and most had a tip inside. I live in a VERY conservative area too! The worst tippers I ever encountered were usually European vacationers. I was told once that over there gratuity is added into most checks so they don’t know to leave more.
