    Spoilers and Spoiler Speculation

One thing I'm glad about with Krista is that she doesn't seem to be stuck on the idea of every couple being 'MFEO'. Amelia and Linc are a breath of fresh air - the endless back-and-forth with Owen grew tedious seasons ago, and now that Amelia is a more enjoyable character post-tumor, it's nice to have her in a relationship that isn't so dire all the time. That said, I have no clue what the plan for Owen could be at this point. I really don't want him to reunite with Teddy - her tell-off of him last season in Germany solidified exactly why they're better as friends than as lovers. Teddy has always loved him and he has already treated her as second-fiddle.

So either they listed the wrong sister in the synopsis, or we're getting two Shepherd sisters appearing in the Amelia-centric episode. Nancy is played by Embeth Davidtz and appeared in season 3. "Good Shepherd" - Amelia and Link travel to New York to operate on a patient with a severe spinal deformity, but they're in for more than they bargained for when Nancy Shepherd invites them to dinner at her home.

Virtually every character on this show has an outrageous background. And, on top of that, think of all the things that have gone on during the series. Meredith is perhaps the most storied lead character of all time: her mother resented her and had an affair, her father left, her mother attempted suicide in front of her, she became an intern at the same hospital where her one-night stand AND her mother's ex-lover (who she also had a secret lovechild with!) happened to work, her one-night-stand became her boyfriend who she later discovered was married, she was nearly killed by a bomb explosion, she drowned and went to purgatory during a ferry boat accident at the same time that her mother died, her friend (who she had slept with) was dragged by a bus and killed, her other friend got cancer and then left town, she discovered that she had sisters VIA her father, one of whom showed up to work with her, they finally got close just before a horrific plane crash killed that sister, as well as Meredith's husband's best friend, and injured everyone else (Meredith included), AND OH I forgot the shooting, where she watched her husband get shot in the chest and later had a miscarriage. IS IT OVER YET!? Nope. Her husband died in a car accident, she was brutalized by a patient and hospitalized for weeks, her absentee father died in her arms, and now she has perhaps the worst punishment of all: having to listen to Maggie talk about sex a lot.

My first reaction to the promo was incest or rape. I'm not surprised. I didn't think that Jo meeting her mom, who left her at a fire station when she was two weeks old, would go smoothly. The end of this week's episode also showed that the meeting left Jo incredibly despondent and upset. I sort of figured that the happy, optimistic mood that led her to finally search for her mom meant that the discovery would be darker, too. She saw Alex so happy with his mom after all this time and thought maybe she could have the same thing. I hope this leads to an actual story arc for the back half of the season for Jo.

Unless Teddy is leaving too, I don't see. Krista clearly loves writing for him, he's dominated so much of the storytelling these last two years.

Megan's return is in 15x20. “The Whole Package” – Owen and Teddy have to deal with the surprise arrival of Megan Hunt, who knows nothing about their situation. Catherine preps for her first surgery back on a war veteran who’s not emotionally prepared for his procedure. Meredith worries about DeLuca operating alone with Richard.

Papa DeLuca left this week, didn't he? It doesn't seem like he's around anymore, unless they bring him back at the end of the season. It does seem odd how quickly the story wrapped, though. So maybe they will bring it up again.

Yea, I've enjoyed the moments they've been given so far this season, but I wish we'd have seen a bit more of a surgical storyline for Jo. Last year we finally saw them really develop her as a great surgeon, but we haven't seen much follow-through this year. I like Alex as chief, I like his mom showing up, I love that he's happy... but Jo has felt a bit absent in the larger sense. I'm wondering where exactly this episode is going and I'm excited to see it. The teaser is generic enough that we don't know whether it's going to be about abuse, about her family, etc.

The Jo-centric episode is 15x19, "Silent All These Years". When a trauma patient arrives at Grey Sloan, it forces Jo to confront her past; Bailey and Ben have to talk to Tuck about dating. Camila called it, "The hardest episode I ever shot." Krista wrote on Twitter, "I’m going to declare right now that this will be one of the most powerful episodes of #GreysAnatomy in 15 seasons. Possibly THE MOST powerful." Debbie Allen directed.

    S15.E16: Blood and Water

Good point @Lady Calypso, that's interesting. I definitely feel like it's going to end up being a real stain on Alex's time as chief. It's a pity, because recently they've made note - even from Bailey - that he's been doing so well and really surprised everybody.

    S15.E16: Blood and Water

Great episode. I really enjoyed it. I was dreading DeLuca's dad but I think they've come up with a pretty interesting storyline that will now have several key characters involved - DeLuca and Carina, because he's their father, Meredith because she pushed against the project and Alex because he decided to fund it. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out and I hope it helps flesh DeLuca out a bit more. I totally get the pull of him wanting to trust his dad, even if part of him knows he shouldn't. I liked how the entire episode was framed around family; what we inherit, what we fight against, how we differ and how we mirror them. It worked well for every storyline. I really loved all of Alex's stuff. It's so sweet to see him interacting with his mom, and I loved her talking about him as a kid. His scenes with Meredith were fun, too. I'm also always a fan of seeing characters interact with others that they don't get to often, and Jo and Jackson worked well together. I'd like to see more of Linc and Jo's friendship, as well. I wonder if the DNA test will lead to something more or if it's just an easy way to give her peace of mind. Maggie is... well, at least it wasn't a Maggie/Jackson storyline. This is actually another one of the stories that should have happened ages ago, when Maggie first showed up, but I like that Krista has addressed it. We've all known about Maggie's parentage for years, but the medical community never did. It makes sense that Richard would be pensive about that getting out. I actually ended up liking this story, too. Glasses & Nico are sweet. I don't love them, but I like the representation and I'm glad they're sort of getting small stuff every few weeks rather than dominating any storylines. My only issue is that the storytelling is a bit one-sided, focusing almost exclusively on Glasses. We need to learn a bit more about Nico for me to really care about it. For now I can just appreciate him being half-naked, though. I can't believe how much I've come to enjoy Amelia post-tumor. I really want her to ACTUALLY leave Owen. He's miserable. What he said about her being incapable of love is... very on-brand for Owen. I'd be here for them exploring Amelia/Linc, perhaps. I was excited last year when Owen's sister left and it seemed he was finally free of some of his dark and twistyness, but he's become truly mean and miserable again this year. I like that the writers are having Amelia acknowledge it rather than ignore it as if it's normal. I have no idea where they go from here, though.
