Man, if the 2000 Baltimore Ravens played against the Rams today, the score would have been 30-3 with several defensive turnovers and scores

Should be 28-24 Pats but based on how & why they win, 65-0 Pats sounds more reasonable IMO Hope for a great game, but at least if it gets out of hand I can turn in early. Just like Superbowl 51 It's about time! As mentioned, it's amazing how the Pats are the only dynasty (between the Steelers, Niners, and Cowboys) that lack hall of famers, so apart from Ty Law being selected, we may be seeing Pats players start to get in before Brady and Bill get there (Seymour and Vrabel, Moss last year and Revis in 2023)

I guess I respected what they did with the CFB Playoff format, but IMO I think they could have waited and choose two of the six areas after the teams were announced. I'd be okay if at least one of the two B1G or PAC12 champs were involved (a la Oregon vs FSU in 2015), but neither being there is not cool. Especially since it is Ohio State & USC (first time in 33 years I believe). Personally, had it been any other combination, I'd be okay with the PAC-12 & Big 10 champs elsewhere over the Rose Bowl. Really OSU should've or could've played USC in Pasadena last year had the eventual Big Ten champ won at Heinz Field in 2016 Edited to add my mild surprise that Barkley didn't even get an invite to New York for the Heisman. I guess it supports my beliefs that November, December, and January football is greater than September & October football. I do get a laugh when the media says crown this guy or that guy. No need for the Heisman Trophy ceremony, period. Then the "champ" isn't even going. Baker Mayfield is winning on Saturday, but I doubt Barkley feel off that much from where he was, or he wasn't even the clear frontrunner

IMO, it's 50/50 for Gronk. He doesn't have (much of) a history. Despite the emotions, it just looked very bad and thus will be difficult for the league to give him a pass. The guy got concussed; otherwise, I think Gronk easily avoids a suspension. I think they'll say it's a 2 game penalty and then go down to one (like last week with Crabtree & Talib)

I'm with the party that wasn't bummed that the call on New York. It seemed as if "someone" had to make sure New England stayed the course with "A-Rod" out. Aaron being out is bad enough, but having New England not in the playoffs in addition to no Rodgers is bad for business. Just my theory that the NFL is scripted. To be serious, though, I didn't agree with that call for the Patriots, but that's only due to the fact that it was originally called a TD. Had it been called no TD and no turnover, or a touchback over a fumble originally, I'd be okay with it. It just sucks because they've upheld more obvious calls that could've been reversed. I think New England wins anyway, but you'd never know. Last Thursday, it was missed FG, and now this. Totally sucks for Rodgers. Sounds like they'll leave the door open for him to return and not put him on IR. I guess we'll see how he'll return with the same injury but with the throwing side compared to 2013. I doubt he'll be effective, because he's 4 years older, and the NFC North was awful that year. I think every coach got fired that year outside of the Packers. This is the second time within the 4-year orbit of playing an NFC division that the Steelers get to play Green Bay w/o Rodgers thanks to an injury at the hands of a division foe Speaking of Pittsburgh, no A-Rod probably helps them going forward. Along with Detroit not really being that much of a threat. I agree that Kansas City doesn't want to face the Steelers in the postseason. Really, barring another painful loss, the Steelers just have to stay healthy before New England, but that's easier said than done when they're facing Cincy & Baltimore right before that. I think Green Bay with be okay, but even with Rodgers there, I think it would've been tough to get to February since teams like Atlanta, Minnesota, and Carolina are tough for Aaron's game

Now reports are at 8 figures. Just incredible. Such a great thing as mentioned, that great players can be good people & do great things off the field

    The NBA

Agreed. 16-0 for me was as special as 19-0 in 2007. Historic but not a big deal. Sorta like a perfect bid in TPIR showcase when the bonus is as great but not better than winning both showcases being $250 away sans going over. It's all about the title Anyway, ESPN wants as many games as possible, just like NBC & the NHL want as many games for the Cup run. $$$ is key; it's a shame Cleveland blew Game 3 since this would have been a series heading toward a best of 3 case had the Cavs held serve on Wednesday. Personally, I think Golden State got a little lucky in the West final. They probably still win, but not in 4 games Now that 16-0 isn't happening, I guess the only interesting thing left will be whether the Warriors outdo themselves last year. I'd be rather shocked, and they'd become tragic figures for sure if Cleveland won the series. Really think it's GSW to lose, be it Monday or Thursday

Jeff Jimerson! Yep. Nashville wins for more attractive celebrity fans, but Pittsburgh's real & regular fans are hotter than Nashville's celebrity fans Really, as mentioned, that was a great win for the Preds. After that first goal I was like oh my since the stats are for real with that. People were saying that the Pens could emulate 1992 and repeat with a sweep. Some people; that would have been a shocker had it happened. Really looking forward to how the Pens respond. I don't know or think they'll win on Monday, but I don't believe they have had back-to-back complete disasters since fall of 2015

Exactly. OTOH, only God knows (and whomever was there). It's a little odd that this would happen right after the non-guilty verdict for the double-murder as opposed to some other random time. The man and the defense team were looking hopeful that they'd have a chance at winning an appeal. Which they probably don't. But maybe it goes from life to 25-to-life (plus the 4-5 years for whatever else). Still a lot of time, but in the end, can't really bad since he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. Meanwhile, the other TE from that early 2010s era...well it's a complete 180 in terms of how one's life is fairing. Totally have no issues with Gronk. What a guy! Can't wait for the schedules to be released tomorrow. If you're San Francisco, you probably are hoping that the Pats don't host the Texans (I can't think of any other team that New England can host that would have the Niners travel on 5 days rest to the team that lost the NFL Opener). Either way, maybe put someone else on MNF other than the 49ers for Week One's double on ESPN

Simms went to ESPN in his first year post NFL. Then after 1994 he went to NBC, as part of a 3-man booth for the final three years of the AFC era on NBC. Not really much, but no one stuck him into a two-man booth right after he was done. Personally, it is what it is and I'm okay with Phil being gone (though I would have been okay had he remained). Just a bit surprising since Phil was an original (AFC era on CBS). While I think Romo should have been paired with a HC or someone else in his first year, he'll be okay. He's with Nantz, and to be fair, I'd rather listen to Romo before making any negative (or positive) opinions about his calls

Hats off to Gonzaga, but I'm glad UNC won. Except that I needed at least a pick or two correct pre-championship to have had a perfect bracket. Anyway, it's a shame about the officiating; those three folks fortunate enough to have done well to get the nod end up ruining the excitement of the most important game in college hoops

    College Basketball

I probably go with Gonzaga in every case in which I pick a team other than UNC to win it all. It's really 50/50, but unlike Green Bay in the past NFL season, there really isn't any reason to pick against my original pick (FTW, pick New England for everything, but GB for the NFC). Maybe if Meeks and/or Jackson get hurt or something I'd switch, but the fact is I can't see UNC having a less than stellar game twice in the row (barring foul trouble). No surprise at all if Gonzaga wins, but if they don't, UHC wins because of unfinished business and due to who the are

I thought it could be a look of relief as well. Auriemma was gracious in defeat in post game interviews, giving full credit to the amazing game played by MSU. Agreed. It sucked that it's yet another case where major history is made in sports where a team hits a record or a landmark (16-0, 73-9, 89 straight, 117 wins). Then in the year in which it happens that team fails to win a championship. It does help that the 111 wins included several championships. Still remarkable stuff and total class from Geno. Still awesome to have seen Connecticut get to triple digits; one of the best feats in all of sports

I personally needed to flip a coin between Florida/Wisconsin & North Carolina/Kentucky. Based on OT and buzzer beaters, I'd put the former as the best game, and based on prestige, the latter. I think South Carolina/Florida was rather special to make up for yesterday's garbage. I can't see a team that can stop SC's second half power. Maybe Oregon, but Oregon has its own task despite knocking off Kansas which was impressive

I'm okay with blowouts when it's not my team. Usually it'll be a team I hate that's a victim of it, if it helps win a bet or whatever, and/or if helps with the bracket. Otherwise I'll probably watch a movie or do something before the next game if there isn't another one to switch to. The one silver lining is that you sit through a deficit, but then the team that's down 25 somehow overcomes that and wins the game
