Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I hate the ad too, but for different reasons. Regardless of the merits of the folding-step tailgate, the commercial itself just might be the single most idiotic TV ad ever.
  2. I'm glad I finished my morning coffee before reading this. Otherwise it would be all over my monitor right now!

I think the other one was "win a reward".

Whoever does the voice-overs for Gain Detergent ads is just awful. He sounds like his sinuses have been stuffed with styrofoam.

S37.E04 Time to Bring Out the Charmpocalypse

I have never understood all the Jeff Probst hate on this message board. I think he does a good job and I can't imagine anyone else being half as good at hosting. And in my opinion he not guilty of any of the charges included in this quote.

Well, you learn something new every day! I just assumed they sold mail-order smoked salmon.

Nope. I'm from west Texas and we say puh-KAHN too. I have friends in Georgia who say PEE-can.

    Perry Mason

Great thread! And a head's up: the final episode of the original series (The Case of the Final Fadeout) is airing Friday night on Me TV. I've never seen it, and thanks to Milburn Stone's recommendation, I'm really looking forward to it!

    Making It

I happened upon Episode 1 of this show purely by accident. As soon as I saw Nick and Amy I stopped clicking channels and watched. I somehow managed to miss Episode 2, but 1 & 3 were pretty entertaining and even a little inspirational. I think a lot of the criticisms in this thread are valid, but the show is just so totally different from anything else on American major network TV that it's refreshing to watch. The similarities to GBBS/GBBO are obvious, but that's a great show, so I don't mind. Anybody know how the ratings have been? I can't imagine they're particularly high, but I can always hope the show will be renewed. And coming here and seeing three pages of comments in this thread is encouraging!

    Rachel Swindler: the Long Con?

Rumors and gossip aside, I find Rachel to be one of the more endearing players this season, much to my surprise (I am not at all fond of the last Rachel from Las Vegas on Big Brother). She was very kind to Sam during the robot phase, she didn't flinch about shaving JC's back (yikes!), and she just seems to be pretty affable and self-effacing in general. I really felt sorry for her getting the crap app last week. She's not the most dynamic player around, but the season is still young. Also, it doesn't hurt that she's extremely attractive.

She wants to be a killer whale trainer at Sea World! Good luck with that ambition. It's on a par with "typewriter repair technician" as a career prospect.

Yep. The pacing and the quitting have just about ruined what could have been a surprisingly good thing.

S01.E05: Power of Veto #2; Live Eviction #2

I was wondering about that too, because it didn't make sense. Maybe they were only showing the billboards to the TV audience so that we could follow along. The POV contestants would have seen them earlier and were trying to recall them from memory. But really, who knows?

That story is more than a year old.
  15. The show's overall attitude is a little off for me. Sometimes it seems like the sharks are only interested in easy pickings and want to invest in companies that don't even really need them to be successful. I wish it was more oriented toward inventors who come up with ingenious products but don't know how to market them.
