    S05.E10: My Fault Is Past

No matter how hard I try, I can't remember whether we've found out who is in the coffin yet (and I'm not sure I'm going to watch this week's episode to see if it answers that question)? At this point, a clever writer would put Jamal there.

Empire in the Media: Read It In Billboard

I haven't been following this too closely, because frankly, the world sucks and someone whom I casually considered to be one of the good guys turns out to be a careless unforgiveable idiot. But I would just like to say that at one point Chris Brown's career was ruined.... Also, if he can use an insanity or mental instability-type defence, then all of the people who are supposed to be making mental illness something we can talk about and through, will be somewhat forced to find a path to forgiveness for him. I think Empire needs Jamal more than Hakim or Andre, so killing him off is really a no go. It seems to me that he's more central to the core Shakespearian storyline.?

    S18: Tristan MacManus

I would love to see an epi or two. Sharna and Tristan are very interesting choices as judges.

Yes, there isn't a good feeling, but there is a watching-that-accident feeling, which considering how disgusting human beings really are is likely to work fairly well if they make that right moves when everyone comes back in rubbernecking curiosity. They won't have long to re-cement ties to the show.

I thought we knew long before the show ended this season that it wasn't airing in the spring? The decision may be effed up, but I don't think it had anything to do with the past season to my understanding.

S05.E09: Had It From My Father

Lovecat - it's true, I knew exactly how you'd made that error - I was with you on it. And Blake does not look reminiscent of Tom Hanks in any way, shape or form.

S05.E09: Had It From My Father

I can see no discernible reason for the Shine flashback that does not involve Shine being Kingsley's father.

I find Sharna's eccentricities with her mirror ball to be charming. But then, I walked around Toronto carrying my bouquet all day the day after my sister's wedding. If a bouquet felt that glamorous and fantastic, I can only imagine what a disco-ball trophy would feel like. The thing I think it super interesting about this horrendous win is that I don't think it will hurt DWTS at all (as I said on the other thread, the discussion hasn't continued beyond a week or 9 days for years on this board and look how many of us are still here). I already know how curious I am to see what the show will do to fix it. I think if the next season seems like more of the same, it may hurt them, but I doubt we'll ever be able to tell given the extreme longevity fo the show in a time of massive viewer choice about what to do with their viewing time. At the moment, Bobby's win seems like an inevitable monkeys-typing-Hamlet kinda situation; it's only if it continues to dive after this season that I will say, no I don't need to see this.

I'd say that this new show runner did fairly well. This is the longest that the conversation has continued after the season in years....

    Your age-ism is showing.
  11. Dan Karaty (formerly of SYTYCD) did a choreographer based dance show in the Netherlands that was amazeballs. I never could understand why it disappeared. Called _The Ultimate Dance Battle_ it featured a group of choreographers, each of whom auditioned and chose dancers for about a group of 6 or 7 (they all lived in the same house and practised together which may have been part of the show, but as I don't speak Dutch or Flemish which were two of the 3 languages the show used, I don't really know). Each choregrapher would get assigned a style (usually not their own) and a piece of music and the choreographers were in competition with each other. I'm pretty sure that the choreographers judged each other with the help of Dan and then audiences voted in real time. I loved that show. Some of the dances were unbelievable.

There were tons of calls to change the rules and I'm pretty sure there was a separate thread for suggestions of how to fix the show when Helio won. Maybe that was someone else? I sure remember the vitriol in the Emmet/Mario showdown too (I liked both, was new to watching and was fairly mystified by it all).

As I recall, there was quite a lot of vitriol on TWoP when Helio won, it just wasn't in the public arena as much because Heliio was at least a good guy who could dance (and I don't recall him discussing his competitors either).

I am fascinated by how closely Bobby's win narrative mirrors his own marketing narrative. He's the underdog, nobody likes him. That's his narrative. Now look at his win. Somehow people are convinced by this narrative and now he has just created more of it. 'President Bobby Bones' has quite a ring to it. BB 2024.

I'm a little confused. What do the people who are mad at Sharna about this win think she should have done in the circumstances? Yes, she's way too fangirly with her partners and their attitudes but that is not what got them the win. She did her job, like she was supposed to. I don't like the win at all, but I'm not angry with Sharna.
