    S07.E16: Star City 2040

Mia might have been angry at Felicity and felt her life was unfulfilled (which was why she stormed off to Star City to basically do everything she knew her mom didn't want to to do), but her POV was presented by the show as a rebellious reaction to being sheltered and not seeing the big picture. In the episode, William refutes her belief that "vigilantes are the worst!" and Connor points out that being a superhero's kid means they have to share their parents for the greater good. The show also added the detail that even though Felicity kept William away, she was still looking out for him by investing in his company. And at the end of the episode, Mia herself says that she understands the decisions that Felicity made for her. I'd say that reveals in 716 definitively debunked all the theories that "Oliver and Felicity were bad parents" along with "Felicity is dead" and "Felicity is evil". At least as far as the show is concerned, Felicity did everything she could for her kids under the circumstances.

Why should Felicity raise Mia in a harsh environment when there’s no reason for her to do so? Present-day Felicity has been saying about how she’d do anything to make sure her kids are safe. Making sure William stayed away and keeping Mia out of Star City is how she protected her kids.

I know they supposedly don’t care about ratings, but with Arrow and SPN ending next year, the CW is not only going to lose two of its top 5 shows ratings-wise, but also the two shows that have generated a lot of social media buzz for the network. Except for Riverdale, none of the recent new shows even come close to SPN and Arrow’s impact. It’s going to be really interesting to see what the CW does going forward.

That question and GS’s answer are why I laugh when I see claims that Olicity will be forgotten as soon as Arrow is over. The pairing has made such an impact on fans and haters alike, with prominent comic industry figures like GS being asked about Olicity and constantly mentioning them in her social media for attention. It warms my heart that something I enjoy so much is always on everyone’s minds. 😏

Looked like it. And then she had her heart-to-heart talk with Felicity in the loft bedroom set.

    S07.E16: Star City 2040

There's so much to unpack in this episode plot-wise that I need to rewatch because I'm sure I missed a lot, and I'm not sure it'll even make very much sense in the end. But I almost don't even care, because what really made the episode great for me were the interactions and chemistry between Mia, William, Connor, and Felicity. Every scene with every combination of those characters sparked. If this was a backdoor pilot for a next gen spinoff, I'm totally on board. One thing I was pleasantly surprised about was how the show decided to skip the "bumbling, fumbling, learning to be a vigilante" phase for Mia and just threw her into a fight where she wiped out a room full of minions by herself. She might hate vigilantes, but the girl can't deny she was born to be one.

It's a tarte tatin. Often a dessert, but there are savory options too. Or maybe a tartine, since Oliver brought up roasted broccoli.

    Small Talk: The Quiver

"Was" is grammatically correct. In this sentence, the subject is "A group", so the verb "is" should be singular to match it. "Of students" is a prepositional phrase that modifies "A group". The trick I was taught on how to decide which verb to use is to mentally remove the prepositional phrase from the sentence. A flock (of birds) flies overhead. Papers (on the floor) were scattered everywhere.

Chico’s been waiting for 2 years for the chance to write that headline. This is probably the closest opportunity she’ll get.

I hope at least WB/CW execs have the business sense to realize that ending a series with the titular hero dead is not going to help the longevity of post-airing rewatches of the series and they won’t sign off on a tragic ending, no matter what the show runners want to do.

Oliver offering his life as a sacrifice to save everyone else isn’t a happy ending, it’s what he does every. single. season. So for his story to end definitively that way is pointless. It means he’s learned nothing and earned nothing. It’s not happy in any way, shape, or form. Just an opinion.
