The Marvel Cinematic Universe: The Avengers, etc.

Personally I am glad that the trolls who tried to destroy Gunn with their hit piece didn't destroy him. Not only did he get his Marvel job back - he gets to helm a second franchise in addition. It makes me happy.

They took opportunities away from hard-working kids who deserved to go to these schools. They should go to jail and their Hollywood careers should be over. But they are rich and privileged white women so they will probably get off lightly.

    S03.E08: The White Elephant

Pam is obnoxious and arrogant and I certainly did not like him at all during his first episode. But he quickly grew on me - like a weed - ha. Laurence Fox is so very good and entertaining in the role. Also, I can't be the only one thinking this - Goodwin clearly prefers certain actors and their characters over others. Lord Melbourne seemed to be her favorite earlier in the show and now Pam may be benefiting sort of in the same way and Fox has made the best of the writing for his character. I don't think Pam is a perfect man but I like him despite his flaws. I am wondering if the show continues and shows a middle-aged Victoria and Albert - will they recast with older actors? Like they did with The Crown.

I am confused, isn't it too soon for Albert to collapse and get the illness which kills him? I hope we are done with the duchess and the footman. I would have preferred to continue with the romantic story lines from last season I was actually invested in and which were dropped without any resolution or any explanation. I think the only new characters and story that worked this season are Lord Pam and his charming wife - now there's a couple worth rooting for. I certainly hope we get to see Lord Pam become

This isn't renewed for season 4 and they end with a cliffhanger? Great.
  6. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/28/hbo-ceo-richard-plepler-resignation-ominous-for-att-warner-buy.html I think this spells doom for HBO and its quality programming as we know it. Lets remember that Game of Thrones for example didn't begin as a ratings juggernaut. Somebody at HBO took a chance on it when they green lit it back in the day. I don't see any of the At&t corporate shills having either the experience or the creativity nurturing future quality programming on HBO. The big losers are going to be the creators of content and the people who want to watch this content.

    S03.E07: A Public Inconvenience

I suspect that Ernst and David Oakes were not present this season so we could spend all this time with the great romance of the duchess and the footman. Isn't that wonderful? (Sarcasm) Whatever my opinion of these characters I do not like that Penge ratted them out. Fire the the footman, yes, there were plenty of grounds for his dismissal. But sell them out for a few pieces of silver - shame on Penge. And he should have long known that discretion would be part of his job.

    S03.E07: A Public Inconvenience

I wonder if the Duchess will think it was worth having an affair with the footman when she is forced into the loony bin - which was a horrible thing that was indeed done back then by powerful men to their powerless wives when those wives had "erred", or simply become "inconvenient". And the sad irony being that the footman had seduced another duchess previously. Every woman should have kept in mind that they didn't even have the legal right to their own children. IMO, a woman of means was better off back then to stay unmarried instead of becoming the legal possession of a man. I think the only rescue for the duchess can be the Queen being Deux Ex Machina for her - even a duke cannot go against the Queen. Albert was right about the exhibition. That's one of the things I actually know about Prince Albert -

The part about him paying for sex is funny to me but that he may be involved with forced prostitution - if that is true I hope the law makes the rest of his life a living hell.

    S03.E06: A Coburg Quartet

Well, if "Palmerston is going down" next episode it doesn't look like he will be down for long - Not exactly a guy who was down and out.

From what I recall reading about the period hygiene was rather spotty during Georgian times and head lice found a comfortable home underneath those elaborate white wigs. I am waiting for the Duke to grow horns and a tail ala Beezlebub. And now he knows about the foot man - yikes.

    S03.E05: A Show of Unity

He really did that? Wow, what a jerk. I wonder if people would like show Albert quite so much if he wasn't played by such a pretty actor? IMO, an abstract sense of "wanting to do good" does not mean Albert didn't have a complete belief that he was "better" and more entitled than most of the people he encountered on a daily basis. Personally I believe being born into royality is the luck of the draw and they are not better than the people who empty their chamber pots, etc. And quite frankly British royality was lucky that they didn't share the fate of their unfortunate French brethren.

Were Victoria and Albert really that at odds? I find them tedious to watch at this point. And he comes across as even more prissy and uptight than before right now. Reading up on Lord Palmerston astonished me. What an amazing life and career that man had. So influential for such a long time.

    S03.E05: A Show of Unity

Laurence Fox must be having the time of his life playing Palmerston. He has become my favorite part of this season. It delights me that Palmerston married his longtime mistress and that their unconventional marriage works for them. And Lady Palmerston is a witty and astute charmer. I am trying to conceive of a way this can end well for the duchess. The only solution I can see - the duchess needs to become a widow. As a widow she can carry on with the dishy footman to her hearts content. Here's a pipe dream - maybe the nasty duke will continue to believe that Palmerston is having an affair with his wife and stupidly challenge Palmerston to a duel. Since Palmerston wouldn't expose the duchess maybe he would accept the challenge and kill the asshole. That would be a great service to not only to the duchess but also humanity. Sadly, realistically I fear that the duke may well kill his wife in a fit of rage. Did dukes hang if they kill their wives?
