    The Cast in Other Roles

Melissa McCarthy just got an Oscar nomination for Best Actress! I love how successful her career has been since Gilmore Girls!

They do. It's the standard operating procedure and always has been. I remember reading about it on the Bravo site years ago.

Rory told Lorelai that she was being childish when she started making changes to the seating chart and she told her to stop it - that was before we learned that Emily fired the wedding planner. I know she didn't say anything after finding out the wedding planner was fired. I was simply pointing out that Lorelai's actions caused the woman to lose her job. But, that Rory knew that Lorelai was being childish and told her so. Rory, after she got together with Logan, didn't even have the decency to tell Logan, "hey these are my grandparents. Please refrain from stealing from them."

You're right that it was Lorelai's mindset, but Rory used call Lorelai on it and even pointed out how childish she was. Remember how she called her out for changing Emily's seating arrangements for the vow renewal (and the poor wedding planner lost her job over it)? The fact that Rory sat quietly while Emily blamed a maid for Logan's shenanigans even when Emily said she was going to fire the poor woman for stealing, is what is really appalling to me. It showed how much she had changed in just the short amount of time she and Logan had been together.

They all are photoshopped into the final pose. The way the photoshoot works is they do all of these poses and group shots, and then the final photo is a compilation of them all being photoshopped in together.

When he took off for California, that was the end of the relationship. That final phone call was like a period at the end of a sentence. His coming back and trying to get her to run away with him seemed much more steeped in ego than anything else. He assumed that she wanted what he wanted and that she had been sitting around waiting for him to get his act together.

But, Rory didn't put a stop to anything. Jess simply left and it ended. She didn't even get a say in the end of their relationship, it was just one more humiliation where he refused to tell her what was happening. And then, he was gone.

    Nitpicking

My biggest nitpick of the entire show is Christopher's concept of how to be a father. For some reason, it never occurred to him that he could be a good dad without being in a romantic relationship with the mother of his child. One of the things that I hated about the whole Sherry is pregnant storyline was that Chris just went back to Sherri as though nothing happened. He wasn't happy in a relationship with her, but he was going to go back to living together and even get married? Even if you take Lorelai out of the picture, Chris was unhappy and both he and Sherri felt like their relationship had run its course. Why wouldn't he just agree to support his child and be a part of her life without the romantic entanglement? Another smaller nitpick I have is why Rory never applied for any college scholarships? I know they planned to apply for financial aid, but it seems weird to me that someone who wrote as much as Rory never applied for any academic, journalistic, or writing scholarships. I mean financial aid, aside from a few grants, is mostly just student loans, so why no scholarships for the really expensive Ivy League schools she applied to?

I think if it were anyone other than Tamra I would give them the benefit of the doubt. But, being so familiar with Tamra's MO, I don't buy that Tamra ever actually tried to address her issues with Shannon. I think Tamra liked there being this unresolved thing because it gave her a convenient card to play when she was ready to get rid of Shannon. That card would lose it's power if Shannon were the least bit aware that Tamra had an issue with her. Instead, Tamra could use it to lure in the new girls, trash talk Shannon, and get sympathy from the other women all with Shannon thinking that she has a devoted and supportive friend in Tamra. That way, Tamra can let the others blindside Shannon and still keep her hands clean. I also don't think Tamra was all that upset that Shannon wasn't constantly checking in with her about Eddie. Mainly, because I don't think that Tamra was really all that interested in what Eddie was going through herself. But, like Shannon's neediness it gave her a really convenient card to play if she needed to be the victim.

I chalk this up to inconsistent writing. Both Richard and Rory at different times point out that Lorelai never applied to college so she didn't know how those things work. But, Lorelai was a private school kid on the college track. She would have been groomed for years for higher education if only to marry well. At 16 she would have had plenty of guidance counselors telling her the ins and outs that she would need to get into a good school. Even if she herself never had the opportunity to apply to college, almost everyone else around her was. It seems completely ridiculous to me that with her background as well as her devotion to Rory getting into the Iviest of the Ivies, that she wouldn't know how the process works. Let alone that she would make a huge scene about it in front of a group of her parents' friends. I assumed that whole thing was to add a dramatic/embarrassing Lorelai moment to yet another Gilmore get together.

    S13.E21: Reunion Part 3

I don't understand why it can't be a mutual amicable divorce and her heart still be broken by the fact that it's happening? Her family is dividing, whether or not she wants the divorce doesn't change the nature of that. She and her husband, no matter how amicable the split, are going to no longer be the team they created when they married, or the team they became when they had kids. It doesn't matter that they mutually agree to this or that it is amicable, there is a great deal of loss that still needs to be processed and there is plenty of heartbreak in that. So, I don't see the two things as mutually exclusive at all.

I think Tamra definitely encouraged this behavior because she could be the one with the dirt AND she could lord over Shannon how good a friend she is. I honestly don't even think she was all that hurt about Shannon's supposed lack of interest in how Eddie was doing. I think it was just a convenient weapon that Tamra could use against her when she needed to ratchet up the drama over the course of the season. I think its why she was so hesitant to say anything to Shannon. If she just talked shit behind Shannon's back, one of the other women would bring it up and Tamra could be the victim caught in the middle. It's Tamra's favorite way to position herself during any given storyline.

Funny enough, that was one of the episodes that really made me hate Jess. He also showed up uninvited. Except he lied about his reasons for being there. Refused to leave even when Rory made it a point to dismiss him. Decided that because Rory offered him fries in lieu of a tip, that it was "an invitation or invitation-like" got irritated when he found out that Paris was there and then made fun of her for inviting Paris to stay - when he himself had not been invited to stay. All things that a creepy stalker who doesn't understand the word no would do - much like his behavior in the sleigh during the Bracebridge dinner, except he was in her home.

For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the episode even though I saw it recently. But in the episode, Jess gives Rory back her book with his notes in the margins. I know that we are supposed to think, "how cute, he is perfect for her." but all I could think was how pissed off I would be if some guy stole one of my books - remember he didn't ask to borrow it, he just took it - and then had the nerve to write in the margins. I was and still am a serious bookworm. Like, Rory Gilmore had nothing on my teenage self when it came to the number of books I devoured and owned. I would have hated someone forever if they had done that to one of my books. Hell, I hate when I check a book out of the public library and find that someone took it upon themselves to write in it - whether it is to correct a punctuation/grammar error or to write a note in the margin. I hated that Rory was pleased by Jess doing that. It totally went against what most bookworms I know, as well as I myself would have been ok with.

She didn't even come up with that idea. Jess did. It bugged me the same way it bugged me that Jess was the one to convince her to pull her head out of her ass and go back to Yale.
