  1. Maybe I missed something, but I was just wondering if it was mentioned where Josiah and Lauren are living. Also, is she 18 or 19 ? I can't quite figure out how long he's known her. It seems like all of them are marrying children of the parent's long term friends that they know either from their church or homeschool group.
  2. Okay, I'm confused about Joe and Kendra's house. They got married in September, right? The latest show talks about them fixing up their house. So where were they living after the wedding? Or were they on their honeymoon for a month afterwards? Somehow, I don't think that Joe did all that work himself, even with his brothers helping. Most likely Jim Bob hired some contractors to assist in the remodel.
  3. I have a question about Riley. I missed an episode but I think I remember, wasn't she the first one to climb out of the crib, as well as the first one to be able to tell her teacher something that started with a certain letter? The teacher told Adam and Danielle that she and Parker were ready to move up to the next class. Maybe Riley is taking on a leadership role, so to speak, and is coming across as more "in charge" as she is somewhat more advanced than her sisters. Just my obsservation.
  4. Many of the outfits the quints wear are from Matilda Jane. Joanne Gaines continued the clothing line after the original designer passed away. You can only buy the clothes online from what's called a Trunk Keeper, not available in stores or on Amazon. The clothing line is from Texas. Of all the girl's names, the only one familiar to me is Hazel. My dad's older sister, who passed away 5 years ago at the age of 87. Lovely lady. It seems that some of the more old fashioned names are coming around in popularity again. I have a niece named Emily who's 33 and at the time her name seemed old fashioned. Then I just read that the name Linda is getting popular for babies. I don't know of anyone named Linda, Carol (my name), Diane, Donna, who isn't at least 50 years ago. I'm 55 and another very popular name growing up in my age group was Michele as well as Maria, and Mary. I've never known anyone personally with any of the girl's names. Danielle was very popular about 30-40 years ago .
  5. At the end of the show, we saw June stepping on the scale, I'm not sure if it read 201.8 or 208, but anyway, I'm her height and at that weight, I'm in an 18 minimum. I've been up and down with my weight over the last 10 years and I really wonder if she was truly in a size 4. At my heaviest, 235, I was in a 20-22, or 2X. Now I'm 193 and in a size 16. I can't wear 14 unless I'm 180 or so. At my thinnest, 145 lbs, I was still in a size 10 and I'm not built much differently than June but I am older. I also don't think she was over 400 lbs during the taping of Honey Boo Boo a few years ago, though maybe she was. Jennifer said she started at 420 and looked way heavier than Mama June ever did. I think she had the advertising that she lost 300 lbs for the show, but I doubt she did it all at once. It would take 2 years minimum to lose that much weight, even with weight loss surgery. As to how the people gain weight back after surgery- it's the snacking. We see June doing it on camera. Also, if she's drinking any soda or sweet tea or eating ice cream, she could end up gaining very quickly. I've had a couple of friends get weight loss surgery and the only way to really keep it off was for them to stick to a low carb diet. One has maintained fairly well and the other has regained 40 lbs after losing 80. You're only supposed to eat 3 meals a day and at most 2 small snacks and I don't think June is doing that.
  6. S06.E21: Sean & Dottie's 2018.07.25

Oh my. This episode was just sad on so many levels. Poor Dottie. First her son passes away, and then she finally manages to get her skin removal surgery, only to probably be discharged from the hospital into a hotel because her insurance didn't cover a rehab facility as a follow up. Sean reminded me of that teen Billy, of the show Half Ton Teen, and the patterns were very similar. BIlly's mother was doing the same thing, feeding him until he got all the way up to 1000 pounds by age 18. Billy's mom lost a child in infancy and she was likely making sure her Billy would never leave her by getting him to be totally dependent on her. I agree with the others that Sean looked like he's given up at this point. Not getting dressed, not attempting to walk to the bathroom, ordering takeout pizza, he's got to be seriously depressed. And he really has no coping skills, nor does he seem to want to learn any. I don't think he'll be alive in a couple of years, despite that fact that he's young. The show won't go on forever for him and then what will he do in terms of getting medical care?
  7. S06.E20 Lupe & Brittani 2018.07.18

I liked Brittany better than most of the participants. I did feel sorry for Lupe , especially not being able to walk, but her follow up was boring. By the way, is Brittany really short? I couldn't quite figure out what was going on with her legs. My one friend has lipodema and her legs look a lot like that. She has to wrap them in compression stockings and get treatments on them to get rid of the excess fluid. She told me she developed it as a teenager and it runs in her family. I expected Britanny's legs to look better after Dr. Now did the surgery on them.
  8. I thought I read that Anna and her kids were separated from her husband and that they were living with Sugar Bear and Jennifer. Maybe it was only a temporary situation. I hate to sound mean, but I think June has gained more than 30 lbs. It looks to be at least 50 to me. I've been on a medically supervised weight loss program since March and have lost 40 lbs, and looking at pictures of June before and now, and comparing them to myself (since we're the same height), it has to be more than 30. I know we all carry weight differently, but June also had plastic surgery after she lost the weight. I have to wonder if June and Geno will in fact get married. I do have to wonder why she wants this now, when in the past she never wanted to marry any of her boyfriends. Pumpkin and Josh did get married recently.
  9. S06.E19 Nicole & Ashley D. 2018.07.11

I felt really sorry for Nicole. First raised by drug addicted parents, then a failed marriage, I think? Charlie isn't the kids' father, he's her boyfriend from what I remember. Then her father getting arrested and in jail, and finding out he has terminal cancer. Plus, didn't they get evicted to? I'm a little puzzled as to why they couldn't get their own place and stay in Houston, even though she said they couldn't afford it, I don't know that Ohio has a lower cost of living but it had something to do with Charlie's job. I think the therapy finally did help her to the point where she was able to continue losing enough weight to qualify for skin removal, even if we didn't get to see it. She lost over 350 lbs under extraordinary circumstances. Ashley had done really well on Dr. Now's program. Going from 725 lbs to under 300 by the time she had her skin removal surgery is nothing short of remarkable. I believe I heard she had 41 lbs removed from her stomach with the skin removal, my jaw dropped at that number. I actually went back to Comcast on Demand to see the beginning of Ashley's story, and I'd forgotten she too had a drug addict for a mom. They were staying at the babysitter's a lot as kids, and at age 6 she was molested by the babysitter's husband , which went on for years. Then her mother dropped her and her siblings off with their dad when she was 9 and took off. Her mom eventually got clean and came back into her life but was gone for many years. I feel Ashley had a tremendous amount of stress to deal with growing up and I'm really happy for her success.
  10. I think Danielle wasn't ready to let the quints go into beds. My two boys were both out of the crib by their second birthday. It did seem a little crazy that they only bought beds for the twins. Like Adam said, all of them are going to escape eventually. But Danielle doesn't want to listen to Adam, she wants to be in charge. I also don't understand why both of them have to put the twins to bed. You go in, read them a story, cuddle for a little while until they're sleepy and then leave. Within a few days they should make the transition from crib to bed. That tea party with Mimi and Blayke was a bit sad, as she is old enough to remember what it was like to be an only child. Plus, Danielle relies on her to help with the quints. By the time she's a teenager, she's probably going to be out of the house with her friends and into school activities as much as possible. Hopefully her parents won't expect her to be their babysitter.
  11. Season 2-more Rattled!

I'm watching. I like Aly and Josh, was a bit surprised that their one daughter managed to get into a bottle of arthritis medicine. We always had medications locked up when our kids were little. I don't hold out much hope for the couple on the boat, it looks like a disaster. The couple who isn't married seem to get along well but I think the man is being just a little selfish buying a truck without even talking to his girlfriend about it. I don't miss Doug and Mars and are glad they aren't back. They are probably no longer together, imo.
  12. S04.E04 Episode 4 2018.07.08

You don't need to be a US citizen to legally marry. My nephew is married to a Chinese woman who came here for grad school, and then after they got engaged, she applied for a fiance visa and they married 3 years ago. So long as you have a green card, you can still stay in the US as far as I know. They do have a little girl now but I'm not sure that has anything to do with his wife's status. I'm not even sure she wants to apply for citizenship. Back to the Affair, I was wondering, is this going to be the final season? It seems to be only a shadow of the original show.
  13. S04.E03 Episode 3 2018.07.01

Are we supposed to think that Helen is in her late 40s? I can't quite remember the timeline of this show, but I thought in season 1, she and Noah married right after college, say age 22. It's now supposed to be 6 years later since the original affair with Allison started or is it longer than that? I still wonder how old Vic is supposed to be. Younger than Helen, but I'm not sure by how much. Getting new love interests for Allison and for Noah is just going to make the whole series even more confusing. By the way, is this supposed to be the final season? Are Noah's two oldest kids going to make an appearance at some point?
  14. The show that came on last night was 3 hours long! I ended up fast forwarding through quite a bit of it as it was from previously aired seasons. The birthday party they were referring to was when the quints turned 2 and the older daughter (can't remember her name) was 6. They're 3 and 7 now as of this past April so this is really a long time ago. Hurricane Harvey happened late last August. I can't believe it's taken this long to air. Not sure I'm going to have the patience to tune in and watch 5 toddlers in potty training so hopefully we'll see some more interesting stories.
  15. S06.E19 Doug 2018.06.27

I know I've mentioned this before, but I do have to wonder why, if Doug was so adamant to give up meat, he didn't consider taking meal replacements, once he cleared it with Dr. Now. I've mentioned elsewhere in these threads that I'm on a 1100-1200 calorie diet using meal replacements from a hospital based weight loss center. My doctor who runs it is a bariatician but she isn't a surgeon. This approach is considered to be the next best thing to weight loss surgery and since I've lost close to 40 lbs since mid-March, I tend to agree. The products I use all contain whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate, a few contain soy protein isolate. Each product has 27 grams of protein, 10-15 grams of carbs and 6 grams of fat, no matter what it is (soup, shakes, or pudding- the bars are slightly less). I've been on low calorie diets before, and I have to say that being on these replacements seems to satisfy my appetite better than being on just food. I do get one meal of 350 calories a day of 4-5 ounces of protein and 2 non-starchy veggies, which looks very similar to Dr. Now's bariatric diet. Maybe he doesn't have a contract with the company that supplies the products, or they're not allowed to advertise on his show. But if the patients were following it and sticking to it, he'd know how many calories they were taking in. I personally think in many ways it's easier to avoid having too many choices and having to cook while trying to lose weight.
