  1. I think there should be a dog category of some sort on every episode of Jeopardy!
  2. Tomorrow - May 23 _ is my favorite episode, the one with Willie Nelson. I think it's the second one of four, 2:00 central. That final scene with him and Willie at Trudy's grave makes me cry every single time. I'm enjoying the reruns on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries - it makes a good show to watch while I eat lunch. I enjoyed the entire run and thought that Shalhoub really created a wonderful new kind of character at the time. Because of Monk one can understand OCD a lot better...
  3. Spunkygal, thank you for telling us about David's reception when he got home. I was very happy to see him win - he seems that he might have retirement in his future if he chooses, and I'm so happy for him because he won't have the stress that some of us Texas retirees do. He sounds like a really good person... Don't think I've ever seen the 2nd and 3rd place winners clap as enthusiastically for the winner as those two women did. Good on them...
  4. The thing that surprised me about the two English teachers missing this particular book is that I never met anyone who went into teaching English who hadn't been a long time avid reader in their spare time. I read this probably too early because I skipped all the war stuff to get to the romance, but it was a book all young girls were reading at the time. Those of you who said it isn't on the usual list of school classics are right - so that it probably why the two whose field it was just didn't think of it right away.
  5. Thanks, Merriebreeze and GHScorpio. I've started leaving the closed captions on for this show because so much is under the breath.
  6. What did Colbert say on his show that Joy and Whoopie were alluding to but it was too racy to say? I wish they would quit hinting at things and then getting coy about saying them...
  7. I'm pretty easy to please with this show as long as they don't al start railing at each other and interrupting. (I get enough of that on the View). Thoroughly enjoyed this week's show. My husband and I cracked ourselves up several times on the weekend over "Put your wife and your dog in the trunk of your car and see which one is happy to see you when you open it up." We definitely are on the side of pets are real people and are in the family... Enjoyed this Jon Favreau - I thought it was the other one and was delighted that it wasn't... Good mixture on the panel. Loved Adam Schiff - sensible and articulate. Wouldn't that be nice if all politicians were such a combination...
  8. That might have been one of those FJ's that were easier for us geezers (if the neurons are firing that day). I immediately knew it was Jimmy Carter for the Energy Dept. because I remember his talks on TV, wearing cozy-looking sweaters and telling people to turn down their heat and put on a sweater. Still find him admirable post-presidency....
  9. I came to the board today to ask who that was that coudn't use the remote control by herself. So you guys think it was Bitsy? Personality I'd say yes because she did appear to be a stepford wife in many ways, but I don't remember that story. Was she pretending to be electronically challenged? I do remember something about Tim leaving a grape in the sink to see how long it would take her to throw it away? And Joy said "carpal tunnel syndrome" so satirically it seemed to mean something else. I'm officially over trying man day friday. I found him very full of himself and a little braggy. I don't need to hear about his divorces and how he has a great lawyer. I did like his mention about Canton because probably only someone from the Dallas area has even heard of it. It was a beautiful little community and now it's virtually destroyed. I'm glad he's helping....
  10. Whoopee, Alex has added a new impression! At least I think he was doing Gregory Peck... I'm ready for young Lin to move on. I realize he can't help looking 12, but it is distracting.
  11. Are we sure that Barbara is still behind the scenes? I haven't heard anyone mention her in forever - thought she may be sick or infirm? Not wishing that - just wondering...
  12. I was rooting for Meike all the way through. I love seeing an older character (she may be as old as me even) who has a dry wit and is feisty. Loved her story and her gesture that it was a long, long time ago. She reminded me of a long ago senior tournament winner who was going to use her winnings to replace her sewer line. I bet she would be fun to know (and we'd invite Margaret from last year).... Again another poorly written clue with an odd wording of the category.
  13. You can bet I was rooting for Nilanka because of the Latin also! He seemed like he really enjoyed taking the class and that always makes me feel so good. I did that too back in the day, but they had to bring printed proof and we stuck it up on the bulletin board under the heading "Latina non est mortua."
  14. It seemed from Alex's reading of the category that he had never heard of Chinese restaurants having zodiac placemats. I found that both odd and sad...
  15. I never understand all the financial dealings on this show, but surely I would have remembered if David Straithairn had been on before. He doesn't show up on TV very often and I almost didn't recognize him as he looked so much better than the last time I saw him (being murdered on Blacklist, I think). He's one of favorites. Somebody tell me if he has been on before because I'll have to go back over old episodes
