  1. Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

I got so excited with the Jeff Bridges category because he's right up there with Clint as far as my "men I'd like to meet." I just wish they had picked some movies that weren't science fiction or the unfunny (to me) big Lebowski. He's has done such fine work in so many things and I have loved him since The Last Picture Show. I'm guessing he's also one of very few in Hollywood who has been married to the same woman for over 30 years. Hell and High Water is really good (but I do love westerns) So glad to see Josh's smiling face back again, but I had never noticed him doing the claw thing Alex imitated.....
  2. Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

I'm still rooting for Claire just for the Latin but I find Larry very appealing. I was so jealous of his students getting the chance to interview President Obama. Can you imagine what that meant to those little 7 or 8 year-olds?
  3. Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

Glad to see so many of you are rooting for Claire along with me! I don't recall that clue about Latin not taught since the 60's - I would have blown a gasket. I didn't even start teaching it until 1967 and it was alive and thriving long after 1997 when I retired. I think eastern USA high schools still have robust programs. If any of you who mentioned having books in Latin (I loved Claire's having books in Latin in her classroom) know where I could supplement my meager collection I'd apprciate getting the name of a publisher. My Winnie Ille Pu is very valuable to me because my Latin teacher in college gave me her copy when I finished her class.
  4. S01.E08: Long Shot

Did anyone get this one? We had 2 60 minutes episodes instead...
  5. S01.E07: Owned

Does anyone know why this isn't on tomorrow Sunday the 13th? It's off the following Sunday also because NCIS-LA has a 2 hour finale..
  6. S08.E22: My Aim Is True

Much better season finale than recent years - at last a happy ending... I wasn't clear who that guy (cop?) was trailing Jamie. I thought Jamie and Eddie did a really good job of portraying their relief at being all right and the discovery of how they felt. At the very least I always have a lump in my throat at some point in this show, but I teared up too, Katey M... I still consider Tom the star of the show, even though he says Danny is, and I thought his angst at the innocent men losing all those years of their life was very subtly portrayed - all written on his face...
  7. Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

Oh my gosh, Alex! The winner's story was about drawing caricatures of EACH of his students depicted, showing what they aspire to be in their professions, frames them and gives them to the kids at the end of the year. (All at his own expense I'm sure) and Alex's reply is to say "you should do one of me"? Can you imagine how much that meant to the kids and how much they will value that forever..... I too was rooting for the Latin teacher of course. At least Alex didn't say "Oh, do they still teach Latin?" as he did the last time they had one of us on the tournament. Her face just lit up talking about her joy in Latin - so nice to hear. I still enjoy seeing Latin "stuff" 50 years after my first class in junior high....
  8. Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

Alas, another bit of knowledge dependent on Latin is apparently no longer taught. What a loss. There are only 7 characters to keep up with aren't there? Doesn't anyone like to read the year at the end of a movie by figuring the Roman numerals? Geoff is a good player but the swaying must stop before tomorrow...
  9. Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

I don't remember a game total that high since Roger Craig, and I found Osman a very congenial player. No tics, no buzzer intensity, no pantomime antics, no swaying... I'm not going to jinx him by saying I hope he stays awhile, but.......I do.
  10. S08.E20: Your Six

I love the casting of Anthony and I have to agree with Erin that what he did was very sweet. He's such a good contrast to the "perfect" Reagans and he has the sweetest smile. I don't understand Erin's continuous going back to Jack. He has proven time and time again he can't be trusted. I don't understand why Jamie won't take the test "just to see." He apparently has the famous Reagan stubbornness after all...
  11. Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

What has happened to all the normal people who used to be on this show? I still resent the Austin Rogers effect, as I think he is partially responsible for this horrid change. And for cripes sake, why didn't someone in charge come out during the break and tell him to tone down the screaming? The fake surprise when he got it right, the ridiculous signature, the bouncing around...yikes! If this hasn't been addressed before tomorrow's show, I guess I will go to closed captions also.... I'd like to go back to players with a pleasant, calm demeanor who answer clearly, speak normally, have a funny story (preferable about their dog, not how they met their spouse) for the chat and act graciously whether they win or lose. Is that too much to ask?
  12. Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

Austin Rogers, the gift that just keeps on giving. I would sure like to see a new rule before next season - no more nonsense mugging at the beginning of the show. Always glad to see a clue involving Latin, but that was very fundamental Latin vocabulary. Not really too far-fetched to think people who never had the joy of studying Latin would still be able to figure it out..
  13. I don't mind as much when they respect the fans enough to announce ahead of time that it is the final season. I have seen so many shows through the years that just stop with no warning and no regard for tying up the loose ends. I have been surprised with how much I have enjoyed this show. I refused to watch The Shield back in the day because it was about a crooked cop. I didn't want to see anything that disrespected the police, but I became interested when I heard what a good character Vic Mackey was. We caught up with DVD's and watched every episode after that. One of my all time favorite series. I will definitely miss Ray Liotta and J-Lo and the crazy plots...
  14. S08.E19: Risk Management

Did anyone else lose the first part of the show due to something. I'm guessing it was Hawaii 5-0 showing but I didn't see when Blue Bloods was starting or not. On demand is messe up also...
  15. Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

I second all the comments about the dog opthalmologist. All our dogs have lived to at least 15 (even the collie mix) and cataracts become a factor. I talked with a vet about it for one of them, but she wasn't nearly as kindly sounding as the Jeopardy contestant. Did anyone else think those white lion cubs were the cutest little fellows you had ever seen? They looked like little maltese or poodle pupppies to me...
