  1. Thank you, Saber5055, this is exactly what I was saying to my little girl cairn as we watched Jeopardy (she likes the music). It is so nice to have a normal, non-miming, non-swaying, non-snarky, composed, quietly methodical, smart player. Big ups to Gilbert as the first 5 time champion!
  2. I'm glad to see that so many of you had the same reaction I did about Flora because I was afraid I was being mean. I had the impression all through the game she was auditioning to be a barmaid at a saloon in the Old West. And the shimmeying....yikes. Unless you have been living on Mars for 40 years, there is no way you wouldn't recognize Robert Redford. I hope he wasn't watching (but he probably wouldn't care anyway) The Michael Caine - Maggie Smith movie referenced is one of my favorites. Wonderful line: When they're about to depart for the award show where Maggie is nominated , Michael's character says "Let me rub your hump for luck!" My husband uses that line on me sometimes for kicks...
  3. I thought this game was the worst I've seen in years and years. Could have been me I guess, as I was watching it after only 4 hours of sleep, but yikes! What was going on in that beastly rhyme thing? I decided the clue writer for that one should go back on probation for awhile... Guess I'm old like Alex as I didn't know the name Bob Ross either----what's up with the green hair on his picture...
  4. I like Kevin also and so glad Ami is gone. I just can't sand that Valley Girl stuff.... I was tickled to get a Tennessee Ernie Ford clue. As a little girl I played "Sixteen Tons" at least 20 times a day on my phonograph. I'm sure my parents were gritting their teeth... It was bothering me who Kevin looked like but Lizzing, you're right - that's who it is. I liked how solid he was and just played the game with no foolishness but a sense of humor when they were all doing so bad on that one category...
  5. That hunDRED business reminded me how much I hated it when that woman last year(?) won several games and I was about to skip Jeopardy for the first time ever. So annoying...Did anyone see what Ami did when Alex came to shake hands with her during final credits? Looked like she was about to slap his hand away... Don't forget that you can find the show on reddit Jeopardy also, for those of you who are suffering irregular showings due to the holidays...
  6. That was a stange betting situation on FJ, wasn't it? Normally I don't try to do the math, but it wasn't a runaway. I'm guessing the new winner was just afraid of the huge amount she would have had to do to win - something like 10,801?
  7. The only way I knew FJ was years ago I had occasion to google "Who is the man doing the dos equis commercial?" because I thought he was so handsome. (I'm old, not dead) and for some reason remembered his name. He certainly doesn't look like Hemingway to me....
  8. No, Alex, Lakedra didn't run the entire anagram category because she knows her capitals. She ran it because she has a whip-smart word ability to unscramble and form another word. She is as good as I recall Ken Jennings doing anagrams. I love anagrams but I cannot do them in my head - have to have paper and pencil... I didn't notice her beautiful smile yesterday. That with her calm demeanor must surely make the frightened mothers feel they're in good hands for their delivery...
  9. I'm so impressed with LaKedra that I'm afraid I'll jinx it for her if I say too much. She was really well versed in so many areas. She just whipped through those art questions, which always seems hard to me. AND...she knows how to wager properly for FJ! I loved her story also. I had a father like that also. He'd never tell me what a word meant - I had to look it up and we'd go over the different shades of meaning. Anything that interested me, we'd go to the library and find a book on it. Here's fingers crossed for a long run for LaKedra....
  10. This episode reminded me of a West Wing episode where Martin Sheen sat at his desk on the phone with the lone man on a submarine as he was going to his death. Everyone else had been rescued and he remained with the ship....
  11. Wild Sow, I'm so glad someone else has enjoyed Law & Order shows along with me. The original L&O IMO is probably the best TV drama ever and I never mind seeing the reruns. Often I can see the opening scene and tell you what episode that was. (Yes. I know that's sad) All I know about the law has come from this series. I was so glad that Mariska Hargitay got 2 of the 3 answers because she really has done an amazing job of developing her character over the 18 years. I'm hoping Ben was just nervous and will settle down as he seems really knowledgeable...
  12. I'm liking Kyle better now that he took Latin in high school! It really can help in those word categories. Very sad that none of them had apparently ever seen an Alfred Hitchcock movie. He is considered a master director for a reason, and any preparation for Jeopardy should surely entail being a little familiar with his movies. The last two days I've had to google the FJ question (after I try to figuure it out each morning) as I had no clue and both days left me with no answer. I found both of them very hard...
  13. This new episode better have Marissa going after him full court press to reclaim all her money and prosecute the creep for fraud and whatever else applies. I hope she can muster the strength to do it - even using her homeland security clearance to help catch him. What kind of information could she have gotten from whatever that was she was searching at the end of episode 9?
  14. Nobody commenting on Dec. 1st episode?
  15. After all the miserable summers I had to spend at the church camp named for the cedars of Lebanon, that should have been an easy FJ, but I guess I blocked it out. I like Lisa and she really nailed the Mozart category, but please shorten the clue request. Don't they tell the contestants to get it down to one word and the $ amount?
