    A Call For Nonac Submissions

Oh, I hate that episode. There are very few good episodes done in that mockumentary format, and that's one of the worst. The Veronica Mars episode that comes to mind is "One Angry Veronica," the episode where Veronica serves on a jury, and does about a dozen things that would have caused a mistrial. There's also a B-plot where Deputy Leo steals evidence related to the Aaron Echolls/Lilly Kane case and sells it, which felt incredibly out of character, and only happened because they wanted Aaron to be found innocent. Oh, and then Meg gives birth to her coma baby and dies for some reason.

I'm sorry, I forgot to take my shipper goggles off before I watched that episode, and all I got out of it was that Simmons can't imagine her life without Skye. ...Oh, right, the G.H. thing was very interesting! What are we thinking, Mutant Growth Hormone, but with the "Mutant" dropped because they don't have the rights to it? Or are there creatures like that poor unfortunate blue fellow in the comics? My Marvel Universe knowledge isn't as vast as it could be.

  4. Who's the biggest ham in the house: Cam, Mitch or Lily? Ever since they switched out actresses in the role, Lily's been giving it a run for her money. I don't mind the lack of general kissing/sexual attraction between Mitch and Cam because I'm sensitive to the slow progress gay people have made in general in pop culture (that these two characters exist at all, are beloved by millions and treated with respect on TV is a sign of how far we've come). Having said that, it'd be nice if it didn't feel like Mitch loathed Cam so much all the time. There's probably a middle ground between snarky dismissal of your partner and blazing romance.

Coma Baby is my new band name. Seriously though, that episode of Veronica Mars is terrible. I didn't even watch it on my recent rewatch project because it is so bad. And I love Veronica Mars.

Coma Baby eventually got Duncan off the show, so it was almost worth it. But it was still awful.

    Rust Cohle: Haunted Nihilist

At some point we're all going to have to agree that the "G" in EGOT can stand for either Grammy or Golden Globe.

I just realized that NONAC is Canon backwards. That took me far longer than it should have.

I thought this episode was pretty good, but I still think the pacing is way too slow. They could have combined last week and this week without losing any character moments or much plot. And the dialog took a big step back. I really think that Joss did a polish on last week's script - the first half of it, anyway. If the show makes it back, it needs to go into "burning through plot" mode like Vampire Diaries or Arrow. The source material has enough to explore to back it up - and none of these characters, including Coulson should be considered un-expendable. They should start cycling guest-agents through the Bus for 3-4 episode stints, and reconstituting the team constantly based on chemistry and story possibilities - for non-comics fans, this is exactly how team books like The Avengers or the X-Men work; static rosters are the exception, not the rule.

  11. I agree with Dave on that semi-gloss stock. Paper comics are also annoying to have. Individual issues are hard to catalog and both collections and issues take up a ton of room. I want to read comics but have no interest in owning/collecting them. I tried brokering an agreement with the local comic store to pay the owner and have a set amount of time to read them in-store. No go unfortunately. A lot of good stuff has been recommended already, I'm going to second Rising Stars for more a modern superpowersy book and Astro City for a more classic/mythic superpowersy book.

    Rose Tyler: Bad Wolf

When Doctor Who came back in 2005, I thought Rose was great. I think her and Nine were fun together. But the Rose+Ten stuff did get pretty sappy towards the end for me. I never started to hate her, and I would totally watch a spin-off of her and Clone Ten in the alternate universe if it ever popped up. Spoiler for 50th Anniversary:

Speculation on Reddit is trending towards . It kept sounding like Simmons was trying to get a hold of "Dr. Strange." If only.

    S01.E18: The Apartment

I loved the episode so much. The fun of a big ensemble is mixing characters up exactly the way "The Apartment" did.
